But that's not true! Before I reintroduced the grab handle I once slipped off the side step and hurt my back and ankle =)

Funny, I don’t miss the grab handle in my ‘21. Instinctually I just grab the wheel. My ‘04 Ram had one, which I used for the 20 yrs of service I got out of that truck. I thought I’d miss it in my new to me Tundra, but I dont.

I miss the grab handle so much on my 21 that I'm tempted to swap it with 08, even though they are different colors.

Respectfully, I don’t think this is accurate. I went very deep into this a couple years ago.

Maybe, maybe not. What I remember was that during the test, they applied a color dyed marking substance to the dummy. After the test, the grab handle had the marking from the colored substance. Was it faked? Possibly. Do I really care? No, not at all. Do I think it might be something others might find interesting? Yeah, so I shared.

I totally understand; I'm simply correcting the record on the safety test results for all who might read this. The passenger dummy is the one that hit its head, and it did so in 2019. It does not make sense that Toyota deleted the grab handle from the driver's side 5 years prior because of that test result.

Not trying to argue, but I don't see any of your sources cited. Not that mine was either, I'm just curious if you have links, screenshots, or other since you claim to have dug really deep. Seems to me that they likely don't publish all results from testing done during product development, only the final product results. That might be where we differ, perhaps I just happened to run across a preproduction set of test results, while you are referring to final design test results. Maybe?

Maybe you're not seeing my entire posts? My last two posts to you have also contained quotes of my own from a while back that have loads of sources, pictures of the test results, etc. Those quotes are from the below thread. If you're a nerd like me for this stuff, you'll dig it. We went DEEP on this issue:

Start with post 102...that's where we get to crash test ratings...

I was seeing your entire posts. However, they are what I believe to be FINAL DESIGN crash test results. Could there have been other tests during R&D? I think yes. Could there have been a case where the dummy hit the handle during PREPRODUCTION tests? I saw what I believe to be factual evidence that it occurred, but I don't know when or even where the test occurred. Based on what I saw, and the fact that the handle was removed prior to final production, I have to believe I saw a PREPRODUCTION test result. That said, thanks for the link, some interesting posts in there, I just don't see anything that disproves what I saw which was a photograph of the marking substance used smeared on the DRIVER'S SIDE grab handle. I'm not asking you to change your stance, and I totally agree with there's a substantial cost savings involved too.Grab handle or not makes zero difference to me so I don't really care to dig deep,

I’m not going to tell you that you’re remembering wrong, but I can’t for the life of me find a photo or video of that. Do you remember where you saw it?

Here are all the test results with included photos and videos on IIHS.org sorted by year and cab size, and I can’t find a pic or screenshot of what you’re describing.

2007 front overlap - no connection to grab handle:

2007 side impact - no connection to grab handle:

Here’s the only head-grab handle connection I can find, and it’s the passenger dummy in a 2019 truck:

You’re welcome to peruse threads on tire size, fuel economy, or oil change interval if you like.

Sorry, but I don't know for certain. However, I sorta think it might have been Ih8mud. Just not interested in digging deep here as it really doesn't matter much to me. Good luck if you go looking, I'd really like to see it again if you find it.
