I just got this truck a few months ago. I have been b!tch!ng about the blind spots that the rear view mirrors give. Anyone else fight this as well? To me it is kind of dangerous.

Seems to me like your mirrors are set a little far out. I don't really have any blind spots. I bring the mirrors in until I can see the side of the truck and then move them outward just a tad until the truck is no longer seen. Haven't had any problems like that.

I added the small fish eye mirrors to mine to see a little more around my truck. They helped me quite a bit.

My daughter’s 11 Tundra has some aftermarket extended mirrors. The PS mirror is awful as it is flat and not like every other standard PS mirror, but the bonus is that the lower portions of both mirrors have convex lenses, which is what the factory mirrors should have had. The other is thing is they don’t fold like the OEM ones.

I have these same mirrors and I don't have blind spots. To me, they are big truck mirrors and I am easily able to see. That said, difference in size and the way you are sitting in the seat could create blind spots. I would think the only answer would be bigger mirrors, if possible or the the little stick on mirrors that help with blind spots. My 2012 Mustang came with the extra mirrors built in to the big mirrors to cover blind spots, it works pretty well. Good luck.

I can’t see any pedestrians when I turn. The whole A pillar and mirror block my view. have to scoop around the seat check for little kids behind them mirrors.

This exactly. It's not just the Tundra. Adding airbags made the A pillar much thicker. They do block your view of pedestrian traffic in crosswalks to a certain extent.

This is what think the OP was referencing as well. I imagine for taller folks it's not an issue, but for me, at 5'5", those mirrors can hide an entire car in some situations. I don't think there's much that can be done other than recognizing the compromised sightline and being careful to take extra time to look around them when turning. I'd hate to give up the extra glass/visibility when I'm backing up.

This is actually the best advice given so far. Each person is going to have a completely different view depending on their height and how they have their mirrors adjusted. If you find blind spots in your view and can't correct them by adjusting, adding a spotter mirror is your next step. But being aware and taking time looking around should always be our first thought when near pedestrians or engaging reverse.

2-2 1/4" round stick on convex blind spot mirrors are the solution. Once you get trained on them, you will never go without.

This is EXACTLY what I was talking about. I am 5'6" and yes, they block A LOT.

I switched to these after using round convex stick on mirrors for a decade.

Understood. I thought you were saying blind spots next to and behind. Didn't think about the ones basically in front because the mirrors block the view as do the pillars also. Yes, that has been a big problem for me as well. I just do all kinds of crazy dancing in the seat to get to see around them. LOL

The blind spot issue was tough for me to get a handle on with my 2018 as well. I actually had two incidents where I pulled out in front of another car that was blocked by the passenger pillar and mirror. Didn't cause an accident but it shook me up a bit.

I immediately got in the habit of leaning forward and back to see what the pillar is blocking and not rushing to enter into traffic. I've had no issues since (six years owning my 2018 and all is well) but I'm very conscious of the blind spot.

I have the same issue with my 2018 Tundra and I have Vent Visors so that adds a little more blockage. My 2000 Dodge 1500 had the same problem and it had Vent Visors too. You have to be careful. I have messed up to.

I thought it was just me!

The vent visors definitely add to it. Don't recall it being as big an issue with my 2012.

This 100%. all manner of things smaller than a brontosaurus just disappear into the black hole of that blind spot. Old ladies in rascal scooters, small children, tiny cars and bicycles enter the void and sometimes they reappear… and sometimes they don’t,

My wife has heart failure on the regular as I start to go and she shrieks because there’s a person there. So anyway, you’re not alone.

I have a 2012 and it's an issue with mine. That passenger side has had occasions to block an entire vehicle from my view and I almost pulled out in front of them.

I had a close call at a major 4 way intersection with two left turn lanes. I was in the far left lane with a semi in the right lane beside me. That usually results in at least part of the trailer crossing into my lane which forced me to stay right on the the line to my left. Usually not a problem until the driver in my blind spot went past the stop bar and was in foul of my lane. Four things could have happened. Me stopping short of the fouling traffic and getting rear ended, me hitting the semi trailer, me hitting the asshole that doesn't understand what stop bars are for or finally being damned lucky and squeezing through the tite spot. I got very lucky. I wonder what would have happened if I had contacted either vehicle beside me? Getting rear ended would have been the safest route fault wise but if I had stopped in the middle of the intersection it's nearly a 100% chance someone would have swapped paint.

    Damned non driving tourists.

Interesting issue. Being 6’-6”, I don’t have the same issue, but I think we’ve all been in situations where the combination of the A-pillar and mirror have hidden cars, people, etc.
