Tyson, Paul and Netflix

Alrighty folks. What in the world is going on here. We're going to have one of the biggest boxing events coming up this summer and Netflix is carrying it. Who cares about this match up between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul? Why? Who's going to prevail? Let the opinions fly...

 

Interesting... Jake Paul's been pulling off some wins that most people didn't think he would, but Iron Mike... Jesus.

Even at 57 I think a body shot from him would still cripple my ancestors and unborn children.

I've seen some fairly recent video of Tyson hitting a bag and it's still freaking scary.

 

I was in high school when Tyson was in his prime rolling through people. I tend to agree that if he trains properly, he will crush the you tube sensation. Literally. At least that's what I'd like to see. To give Paul some credit he has upped his opponents a touch but he's still fighting nobody's.

I am surprised to see this being a thing. Wasn't Iron Mike just recently in the press about nearly being crippled as he's aging?

 

I mean, sure, I'm minimally interested, I suppose, but my interest in such events is usually inversely proportional to how hard they're pimping the event, so in this case...not really at all interested. LOL

 

Yeah, I think Mike's power could still be a threat. Unfortunately, Jake's youth and obvious talent has me second-guessing Mike's ability at 57 to knock out a well-conditioned 25(?) year-old. To be clear, I certainly hope Mike Tyson gets a KO in devastating fashion.

 

Tyson was a beast, back when he was hungry. As soon as he got fed, he fell off. I have no doubt (some of) the power is still there, but unless he comes up with some real motivation to eat again, I expect a lackluster performance. They also may agree to a more mediocre effort due to this being solely a money grab fight.

 

Yeah, you might be right. There might be a mutual agreement to put on a show but don't hurt each other.

 

That's the thing. Tyson does need to eat. And he's always loved the attention. Think when the fight goes down Tyson will have freshly turned 58, and Paul will be 27. Advantage to Paul on this for sure. But how hungry is Tyson? The part I'm liking most about this event is no ridiculous pay per view fees. Will it be be rigged? Who knows, but I'll be watching to see.

Don King definitely changed boxing fans perceptions on how real it was. He honestly was a huge downfall to the sport in my opinion.

This is likely true. But a man can hold out hope for a good show. Money can entice men to fall for stranger things. But ego is huge with both of these guys. Who's going take the fall? Or get knocked out for real? And this is why I'm interested in the event.

 

I wanna see Tyson win. By body shot. Crumbles that punk and he has to quit cause his poor little belly hurts. Cause his liver exploded.

Yup. Just read up on it. He has sciatica and it cripples him when it flares up. Fingers crossed he can stay healthy through training and we get to see a match

 

If Paul gets clipped he WILL go down. But I just don't see Iron Mike being able to sustain the pace that Paul fights with. I predict Paul will keep a safe distance and methodically pick Tyson apart before putting him on the canvas. 30 years ago, this wouldn't have been close - but Father Time is undefeated

Yeah, there are some very good strikers in MMA, but it really isn't a great testament to the skill of a boxer to defeat someone after taking away 90% of his weapons.

Knees, elbows, kicks, grappling, takedown/ground game/submission all off limits.

I mean, if I could tie Usain Bolt's feet together I think I'd have a pretty good chance at beating him in the 100M (Maybe)

 

Even at Tyson's age this will be the hardest fight Paul has ever had. I agree that he's just a lame ass you tube narcissist who's been fighting nobody's. I would love to see him get destroyed by one of Tyson's skull crushing blows to his oversized ego.
