I'm planning to buy a bug deflector and a set of window vent visors for my 2005 Tundra soon. Are there any brands that stand above the competition? I'm currently look at AVS and Weathertech. I was really happy with the Weathertech floor mats in a previous truck, so I'm assuming their quality carries over to their other products.

Should I be looking at in channel vent visors or the ones that stick on the outside?

Thanks for the reports guys. Doesn't seem like I can wrong no matter which route I can go. I really prefer the in channel look. It has cleaner lines in my opinion.

I didn't know AVS is was the original designers. I learn something new every day. I'd go with them based on popular opinion but it doesn't appear that they make a 4 pc version that will do my double cab rear windows though, only the front.

Maybe I'm mistaken but plugging in 2005 Toyota Tundra into the AVS product search on lundinternational.com only shows a 2 piece set.

"The original Ventshade® was introduced 80 years ago and is still going strong today". AVS specializes in ventshades. Everyone else came late to the party...

Same. I've had the weathertech in channel ones on several vehicles now and no issues at all. Everyone has their own tastes but I personally prefer the cleaner look of the in channel ones.

I always bought WeatherTech until my last Tacoma. Thought I'd try another brand. Bad mistake. They were supposedly fitted for my truck, but were much looser than the WeatherTechs I had in the past. Yup, rear passenger vent fell out so I ended up giving them away and going back to WeatherTech. What a difference. Live and learn. Do yourself a favor and go with WeatherTech. You will thank everyone for steering you in the right direction.

I've had both in channel and stick on over the the years. I've had in channels fall out. Usually in very icy temps when they become frozen to the glass and come down with the window. I prefer the stick on. I never use the tape provided. I go to Home Depot and get the best adhesive 3M tape they've got. My AVS have been on now almost 3 years and aren't even remotely trying come off even though exposed to all kinds of temp extremes here in CO. It's all a matter of preference.

Where does the stick on type stick to, Matt? Would where I live be a lost cause in the winter with either type? You know how cold it gets here

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
I went with stick on AVS Original. The 4 peice. It is a much thicker plastic. I also had same set up in 08 Tundra.
Really harsh winters in Cleveland and no problems with the stick on version.

It sticks above the top of the windows. I had the AVS stick-on visors on my 09 Taco. No issues at all during record winter in Anchorage, 2012. None...Where you live...it might as well be freaking Anchorage. We actually have cold icy winters here in CO.

Thanks, I saw those but I think I couldn't find the in channel 4 pc set. It doesn't seem like they make in channel visors for the rear windows. But with the fridgid temps we get here in winter, it appears the stick on with high quality tapes is going to be the way to go. Up here in the frozen wasteland of northern Alberta, we can drop to -40 Celsius (-40F) in winter, with average winter temps around -20C (-4F).

Lots of great info here, thanks everyone!
