I am experiencing a vibration above 10 mph and below 18 mph when accelerating and decelerating. I feel the vibration in the seat, and not through the steering wheel or brake pedal. There is no noticeable noise associated with the vibration. The only modification is the addition of the TRD Anti-Sway Bar. It happen in both 2x4 & 4x4, and with the transmission in neutral. I don't take my truck off-road and it has only 38k miles.

The Toyota dealership had it for a day, but could find anything mechanically wrong.

I have re-balanced the tires and rotated them both front-to-back and crisscross.

Just want to see if anyone has experienced anything like this, and what the remedy was.

Thanks and have a great day!

What kind of tires you running? Aggressive larger lug tires can do that. As can tire/wheel balance or even a slight bent rim. I know from experience, having a rebalance does not always mean it was done right. One tire off a bit can induce vibration and even a pull.

A bad carrier bearing will give that vibration. Any lift to the rear usually needs a carrier bearing drop to avoid takeoff vibration. If unlifted, yours may just be worn and need replacement. You dont mention miles or use, but heavy tow use or higher miles could mean a worn carrier bearing.

Those are simple and what I would check first.

I'm confused. How can it happen between 10-18 mph with the transmission in neutral?

38000 miles and use it everyday transproting. I don't pull any trailer or haul heavy loads. Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires with roughly 14000 mile on them. I can put it in neutral as I'm slowing down, and the vibration is there when the odometer drops below 18 mph and goes away when drops below 11 mph.

Toyota of Richardson put their top mechanic on it and he found a minor crack in the final U-Joint. After replacing it, vibration was non-existent.

Did they just swap in a new driveshaft? I don’t think dealers swap U joints.

Tundra U joints are replaceable. Some models are not, such as a Rav4 I had, had to replace the whole drive shaft..

Correct. I was curious what the dealer did.

The dealer ordered the OEM U-Joint and replaced it. It was covered under the drive-train warranty.
