You can only wait/delay so long.

I'm hoping the 2-3 year delay will allow all manufacturers to work out some of the quality issues.

When I think of tundra vs ford/dodge/chevy the main difference is the chance you're taking of ruining a trip because it left you stranded. warranty aside, it still wastes your time and you always end up "babying" it because you lose confidence in its durability. tundras have proven time and time again to be the toughest truck and i've exceeded expectations on mine plenty of times. the 37s can get you into some sketchy situations and put a lot more stress on components and have still never caused me to get stranded or do any damage.

The chances of any of those brands straight up leaving you stranded somewhere are extremely low. It’s very rare for there to be a catastrophic sudden failure with any of them.

well unless the main bearings fail in you 3rd gen Tundra. Then you would be stranded.

+1. The 3.5 EB powertrain has been around for a long time. I think the current generation of it is relatively proofed out.

That's what I'm thinking. This would be my first Ford purchase. I would have considered a Tundra but none of the local Toyota dealers wanted to assist me in ordering a new 1794 non hybrid with a 6.5 foot bed. My previous 3 vehicles have all been factory orders. There's no way I'm paying this much money to not be able to configure a vehicle exactly the way I want it.

I don’t agree that quality is automatically the same across the board just because of the pandemic. I also don’t think that ‘24 vehicles are more prone to the issues you describe than a ‘22.

Yes, everyone has dealt with supplier issues and personnel shortages, but these don’t automatically put the manufacturing method and ethos of each automaker all on the same level. They have all chosen to handle issues differently. Each of their long-standing track records of intense attention to quality (Toyota), rushing designs to market and admitting to spending way too much in warranty repairs (Ford), consistently having the highest number of buybacks (Ram), and overly complicated valvetrains and buggy electronics (GM) don’t all of a sudden count for nothing.

I might have been SEVERELY disappointed in the debut of the 3rd gen Tundra, but it’s still built by the same Toyota with a decades-long commitment to quality and the kaizen philosophy that built my truck. It is all but guaranteed to end up being the most dependable TTv6 in a truck out there.

Isn't the 1794 hybrid only or just the Capstone?

I believe the 1794 is available in non-hybrid based on Toyota's build configurator. Whether the dealership has an allocation (for a non hybrid 1794 + 6.5 foot bed) is another story...

    +1. It's affected all manufacturers.

I think for some manufacturers, you just have to wait longer for them to sort out the issues.

Sharing a Good Video of the F250 Tremor offroad during the winter by Truck King.
Watch how Trail Turn Assist helps it make a U Turn in the woods at the 22 minute mark.
It has no hope of making the turn without this feature that locks the back inside wheel.
The skid plates cause it to turtle.
He also clearly shows how if you are not towing alot (18000) lbs and don't need 3000 payload - then there are serious ride compromises on not great roads with all HD pickups.

I have to be honest I had an hour or
2 of wheel time in an F350 CC dually about 15 years ago and I don't know how they've changed but to this day I remember being surprised at how smooth ( or at least not horribly) it rode. Maybe my perception is totally skewed or something but I remember expecting a donkey cart ride and coming away thinking I could totally live with the thing long term if not for the fenders in separate zip codes.

My Tremor has it too, thought it was a gimmick but it actually has come in pretty handy on some tight switchbacks.

Well, Toyota dealers didn’t want to assist with ordering a 1794 Crew Cab non hybrid with a 6.5 foot bed so I would be walking if I were willing to wait forever on a Tundra as well.

I actually just took it the CAT scale last week on the way home from the dealer. I was curious what tongue weight would be, I'd guessed 400 and calculated it at 380. I need to up my weight tag rating to the 13,000 though, just under 12k with empty boat and truck, other than the gear I normally carry.

In NC we have have to have weighted tags if your gross weight is over 7000. So basically everyone with a 3/4+ ton truck needs a weighted tag since they are close to that already. It goes up in 1000 pound increments, so my tag was registered at 11,000 when I had a smaller boat. That said, I've never known anyone to get ticketed for being over your tag weight. But you piss off the wrong Statie and they could get you, it's only a couple bucks a year per 1000 so I'll bump it up when I reregister.

If there going to put features on my truck that goes offroad, well its not even a road…its called a Lane. These are the features I don't mind paying for. And having a locking diff in 4Hi. See the new Tacoma broke thread for the TFL video to see what happens when you have locking diff available only in Low, with an inexperienced off road driver.

Its March and two years later. lol. If I needed to pull the plug on a truck today - its still the F150 Tremor. Unfortunately I do not really trust Ford or Toyota right now for a long term ownership vehicle. And I do not know if the day will come again when I can buy any vehicle and not think I will need extended warranty. The prices on those extended contracts are big $$ in Canada. Thankfully my vehicles are still strong and more than do the job.

That F250 in the video is 20 feet long. Is that the length of your boat?

Got outta work this morning and a f-150 was parked next to me…I looked in the bed out of curiosity and could see pavement in the corner by the cab on the drivers side…crazy…hopefully it’s just damage/dent from stuff in the bed and not how it comes from the factory

I wonder if any manufacturer is going to have a vehicle last a decade or more now with all the electronic gizmos in them.

I watched the car care nut go through a beautifully maintained low mileage for it's age 1994 or 5 Lexus. He was the last stop before junking it. It had something like 75,000 miles on it in perfect condition. It ran perfectly when it would run. 2 different dealers fired their "parts cannon" (car care nut came up with that) at it to both after making some good $$$, say they couldn't fix it. The last one recommended him as a great troubleshooter of older Lexus/Toyota vehicles.

It turned out to be a leaking capacitor on the ECU board you can longer get. He had to send it to a electronic board repair place, hoping it could be repaired. Otherwise the car is useless. Even with everything else including, motor and transmission working fine. Luckily it was repaired.

So how long before the electronics totaling vehicles?
