My tundra 2015 was opened three times. Electronic hacking i think. Don’t keep any valuables there except handicap placard. Was thinking of putting a switch on the electrical circuit to the door lock device. I think there are two front and back?
Any suggestions? New to the forum.

Do you have footage of the hack?

If it's a proximity key fob you can use a faraday bag for your fobs or just store them in a metal container you can seal.

Did you find the truck unlocked after you remote locked it or find evidence of someone getting inside the truck?

Plant some airtags inside a couple of things inside the truck and wait for them to grow legs. Then let the games begin.

You just did reply, but if you meant quote...in the post you want to quote, on the right side you should see links for "Like, Multi Quote, and Quote". Just click "Quote" and in the message box you see the message of the post you're quoting and replying to. Hit enter a a couple times and then write you reply.

    Does this help?

I've got a couple Ring cameras that has 180 degree coverage of the front of my house. Pretty inexpensive including the subscription.

Found it unlocked and found item missing and console and glovebox open. Only thing of value was the handicap placard. No evidence of forced entry. Just hacked I think.

2015…..shouldn’t have push to start I wouldn’t think, meaning you probably have a physical key. You sure at that model age that when you press lock on the actual key that your door lock actuator isn’t hanging? It’s common. Press lock on the actual key, truck doesn’t lock. Put the key in the keyhole and turn it and it locks. These models and the similar Tacoma years are notorious for the door lock actuator to stop working properly. Replace that and it works properly again when you press lock. My money goes towards that.

Edit: I just replaced both front doors a few weeks ago on my 2018 for this very reason.

Probably opportunity theft with an unlocked door. Especially if that was the only thing taken.

Really easy to pry open a door at the top. Then stick in a wedge and use a stick to hit the switch. Really easy. That said, the alarm should be triggered by the door switch.

It uses a separate fob and truck clicks once for lock and twice for unlock using the fob. I’m as certain as I can be that I did lock it with the fob.
    Thanks.

Aftermarket? And did you actually pull the door handle and not just click the button?

It is possible but 3 times in the last year seems unlikely.

My money still goes towards actuator no matter if you have a 2 piece key like this:

    upload_2024-3-6_1-11-52.jpg

Or a single whole key like this:

    upload_2024-3-6_1-12-37.jpg

actuator acts the same. Do you stick the key in and turn it to start it?

also the click you hear may be the rear doors locking. Not the fronts.

I had my 17 withe the key and separate fob opened like this a few years ago in Yuma. Neighbor got it on camera and let me know. Guy hit all the neighbors vehicles, different brands. Only ones he didn’t get into were my old 4Runner and Mazda 3 which didn’t have a fob. Guy stood on sidewalk, played with some device and everyone’s cars/trucks lights blinked and he started pillaging. He was caught a couple days later. At least nothing was broken during the theft, so at least there was that.
