It was both crawling and fast boi shit out here. I'll get some more pics posted up soon. We're in a hotel do to us bringing the panhandle winds with us. It destroyed our tent and quite a few others tents. We all went to each other's camp sites and pulled down tents and canopys once the turd(2.5) gens got back from some trails.

I recall the original concept having a little gas engine onboard to compress air & refill the tank on the go. I think they dropped that though. I'd choose that option package. Petrol just works.

    Gotta say it.

Been working my ass off the last couple of days. Folks in town to hang with the kids and pick up a bunch of furniture and storage stuff from the site I'm liquidating.

Had to drive Dad's 2.5 gen (2018, I think) a lot over the last few days. Dammit if that thing doesn't feel like a tank. Can't see shit over the hood. Sluggish to get up and go. Slow to steer. Brakes like my 2006. I cannot believe how much lighter and more nimble my 2006 feels in comparison.

I dunno why in the feck anyone would want one. I'm not tempted to try driving a 2008 or something, just to see how it compares. Dad's truck looks pretty good overall.

@KNABORES you've got one of each, best gen and not-best gen. How's it for you switching back and forth?

It works pretty good, but yeah, cruzer set up a wind block with some cardboard yesterday. The hotel parking lot was pretty calm.

It’s fine. My 2019 has more power, better brakes, more room, better tech, shifts smoother, rides better and tows more shit. I just don’t have any attachment to it. My 2000 is my truck. I’d sell the 2019 and not think twice, but it hasn’t been through what me and my 2000 have. I literally cannot sell the 2000. It is the best gen. It’s like a really good dog that can’t be replaced. It’s irrational, but it is what it is. It’s not near the truck my 2019 is. But it is more maneuverable and more right sized. I like them both. Good trucks.

Swing by the shop when you get back to town and I can weld that shock mount as an interim pre axle swap fix.

Looks like a fun trip with some cool rigs!

Dale and I are headed 7 hours south on Thursday to Big Bend for five days of climbing/dirt bagging with some friends. I've put a few hundred miles on the truck since rebuilding the crash damage, but I still haven't done the timing belt or ball joints, in fact I haven't even looked at either....

Maybe I should do a pre trip this afternoon

A mutual friend has 20 acres in Terilingua where we will be camping. Its a short 10 minute drive to the east for the national park side, and 10 minutes west to the state park side.

If you are wanting to stay in a state or national park I'd recommend reserving a spot 3-6 months in advance. The post covid outdoors boom has really ended same day reservations.
