I added backlights to the side mirrors switch by hardwiring LEDs inside the switch.

Pulled all the interior headliner trim pieces. Plastic adhesion promoter and painted SEM black.
Pulled the headliner, ready for upholstery.

Looks great. Do you have details on this. I’ve seen a couple threads on it but no definitive “this will work “ instructions

or did you simply crack open the switch and add a LED in there?

This looks tempting. I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on this project for about 2 years now. :frusty: I wonder how well this is going to hold up. :notsure: I am so scared of the paint peeling, that I've considered wrapping everything in carbon fiber instead, but I feel that would be too much carbon fiber.

The headliner came right out, after pulling all the plastic pieces. The toughest buggers were the hanging handles above each window. Needed to buy a hook tool to get them out.

As long as the proper prep is taken for painting plastic, there’s no worries.
    Will do!!!

You are likely correct. :) A, B, and C pillars, as well as areas that are not touched much, should not be an issue. I'm worrying more about the grab handles and were the seatbelts are sliding.:notsure: Either way, I am excited to see the finished project.

Everything is getting clear coat. The adjustable seat belts will likely stay in one spot. I rarely have anyone in the rear seats. The small plastic piece the seatbelt slides on will probably stay grey, I haven’t decided yet. But that’s the only piece that won’t be painted. I’m trying fabric spray for the sun visors. If anything I’ll have to come up with something if I don’t like how they come out.

I wonder if there are black Toyota part numbers for the seatbelt slides or grab handles that are used in a different vehicle. Sort of like the chrome vents that can be swapped for the black ones from the SR5.

Yes, I did it. Just made holes to all buttons and filled with ultra white caulk. Then, installed an LED light below each spot. I tried 3 different LED colors but none were the exact factory color. Ended with white LEDs. Here are the high level steps but if you need more info I will more than happy to help. :)

That would be great if they did. I’m unsure. I was thinking of searching for a different vehicle’s sunvisor that I could get in black that would fit.

Looks good! I only need it for fold button, any link to the LEDs you ended up using? Nice mod, I am often looking for that fold button in the dark...

Very nice. This is honestly probably the “easiest/best result for time investment” version that I’ve seen on this mod.

there was a member on here years ago who scammed a few ppl out of quite a bit of money claiming they had figured out how to use an OEM illuminated mirror switch. I researched and researched but couldnt figure out how they did it. Turns out it was a lie. This is a much better option
