So a few things come to mind…
    • You didn’t have JBL audio with an 8” head unit. Also, I’m 99.9% sure the JBL isn’t an option on the SR5, even if the SR5 is spec’d with the “premium audio” package that includes the 14” screen. You confirm by tilting your back of your DS backseat forward. No sub = No JBL.
    • That black sticker, more than likely, is no accident. Look at all that seller’s other listings. He places stickers over part numbers of other items to hide details from folks.
    • Did you take a pic of the part number on the actual unit you received to make sure that actually received a 401?
    • It’s possible…perhaps…that this is a factory error and why he has the unit and is selling it so cheap. I.E. The JBL faceplate was added at the factory by mistake and the unit failed QC so it was discarded/sold on the secondary market. I don’t know how he gets these “new” units and selling them so cheap. Remember, the MSRP on these units is (if I remember) north of $4k.
    • Question on your truck: I’m going to assume that you have softex seats that are heated and are power adjustable (not manual seats), correct?

Are the 360 and 361s the same or has that ever been flushed out?

I've been trying to figure out the commonalities as to why some trucks have the wiring for the 14" volume control and some do not.

I thought I had it figured out: Trucks with the heated seat controls (since the button is right next to the 14" volume knob) and/or dual climate.

However, I ran across an interesting twist. It looks like my truck has the wiring, but I need someone who has done the volume knob mod (when swapping to the 14" screen) to confirm if this is it. @terraj66...can you see if this looks like the wiring you had in place when you added the volume knob?

I popped the trim off my dash to see because I'm not really a fan of doing the 14" upgrade without the knob.

Pic #1: This plug (circled in blue) was plugged into a dummy connector (circled in red).
    upload_2024-2-14_14-47-42.png

Pic #2: This is what the plug end looks like. It seems to be a 6-pin/8-pin female connector. Is that what the volume knob module is?
    upload_2024-2-14_14-49-31.png

Pic #3: It's obviously a dummy connector because there are no pins inside.

Interesting. Well...good news for me then, but it completely blows my logic out of the water. I'm not sure why my truck would have it when others don't. Interior-wise, it's a pretty plain jane truck. Manual seats, no heated/ventilated seats, no heated steering wheel, no dual climate, etc. I thought for sure a combination of some or all of those would determine if a truck had the pre-wiring or not. I guess not.

BTW: Thanks @Roziere3 for sharing the pic! I guess I'm getting a little closer to potentially doing this.

I checked on parts.toyota.com. They're not cheap. Depending on the dealership you select, they run about $40 - $47/each. Pretty steep for plastic, but what area ya gonna do, I guess.

Happy to report that my SR5 did have the volume control….note to self…don’t order until you have a look. As mentioned cutting it in is a little tedious, I drilled a small hole and then used a drummel to finish it off which worked pretty good.

I've been trying to see if you can order the climate control trim bezel (without the controls) separately vs cutting, but I don't think you can. At least, I can't find a P/N for just the bezel.

The bezel built for the volume knob juts out vs our that would just have a hole in it. I don't mind cutting it...lord knows I've lost count of how many holes I've cut into this truck already...if I can be lazy without cutting that would be ideal. lol

You sure on bolt sizing? M8 comes in 1.25 20mm but pretty sure M6 do not, at least I’m not able to find them on Amazon. If you needed longer screws, was probably an M6 1.0 25mm or something similar as the last number is the length and the middle is a thread pitch. Or am I incorrect here?

    • I confirmed I don't have JBL.
    • And the sticker was no accident, and it is not a factory mistake.
    • Yeroel told me he upgraded the unit to not to be JBL.
    • I can post his reply if you all would like, but IMHO I'm not sure I would purchase from him anymore! why, because he wasn't transparent with us up front.
    • However, the stereo works great. Like I said, backup camera, Sirius Sat, handsfree, mileage..... all the functions. I haven't tried to register it nor have I tried to use Navi. I used Apple and Spotify.
I ask him this most important question: If I have to reset the unit would it undo his upgrades/downgrades. No reply...

And, I do have the wiring harness for the radio knob. However, the 86128-0c060 is only the knob and not the actual mechanism. I don't have that part handy, but I'll post it later.

If you get time, I'd love to see the external shots of where you mounted the cameras. I'm guessing you mounted them on the DS & PS mirrors and the front camera on the grill. I'm curious how they look from the outside.

I've gone back and forth on doing the 14" screen upgrade and after everything, I'm really starting to lean toward the aftermarket. If I'm buying a bigger screen and I'm primarily going to use it for Apple Carplay...then I'm starting to see the appeal of the expensive 14" Toyota screens on eBay less and less...especially when they're $500-$800 more than the aftermarket screens.

If the aftermarket screen doesn't work with the factory backup camera then that means I've got to wire & add an aftermarket backup camera. And, at that point, I might as well go the full monty and mount & route wiring for the 360 cameras.

Question, can someone please confirm, if these 14'' displays are able to, or have received, the latest (OTA/USB) software updates?
As mentioned above by @Calc30, about removing/downgrading JBL, I suspect that besides having minor cosmetic blemishes, these units might also have some firmware (or labeling) differences. After unsuccessfully trying the 361 model for my 23 Sequoia, I ordered the 460 model number (Toyota non-JBL part numbers for 23 Sequoia - my research), but got the same result of solid green screen :(. The new unit I received did have the label stating the model number as 460, but interestingly during the bootup process, the part/device number displayed on the screen was 360, running an older 100x software version with a build date of 2021. It'd be interesting to see, if the screen number matches with the actual sticker/model ordered by folks.. Btw, the 401 model number seem to show up only for Toyota dealership sites in Canada.

I assume my screen probably isn’t the latest software….but I’m not going to try and sync my profile to it to find out. Everything at this point works while I’m in guest mode so i don’t see the benefit. I am still getting XM radio long past my trial period so that is a bonus.

is there a way to somehow know what software version a unit is running? I can’t see that in any menu.

Thanks Roziere3. I was more interested in finding out if this mod would stop me from getting (security) updates for the display, and/or if it is running a specific modified (rooted) firmware version.
You can get to the display's service menu by:
1 - ACC On/Engine not running (For push button, press push button twice, without holding the break pedal),
2- Turn the display off (General - display off)
    2- Swipe right 5 times
    3- Swipe left 5 times
There is an option within the service menu about Device/Product Information.

I think it's a pretty safe bet to assume, unless you get the radio sync'd with your VIN, that you're not going to get OTA updates. But, I could be wrong.

For anyone that’s done the upgrade…have the reverse lines on your camera worked? Mine have flashed a few times but disappear and i don’t really want the dealership messing with it.
