I have the Tech12Volt sub and JBL DSP4086 amp from James and it did wonders to wake up the factory JBL sound system. Even after tweaking the EQ on the DSP, I would still like more from the door speakers. Any recommendations on replacement 6.5 components? There are not many 2 ohm choices out there that I can find.

Did you use a mic and rew to make adjustments or just by ear? The 6x9 will put out some volume but they need to be eq’d properly and have the proper crossover points, time alignment and level matching.

I don’t think moving to a 2 ohm 6.5 will give you more than you have. You also have to check the ohs but also the efficiency of the speaker as well. With wattage that low you need a speaker that is over 90db at 1 watt.
But, I would suggest tuning the system properly before spending money and throwing speakers in the doors.

I think james tunes the amps before sending them but I think it’s for the speakers that he sells as well.

Almost no one can properly tune by ear. Maybe make some final tweaks but getting the main tune by ear is extremely difficult.

I just installed the same amp in mine. I was impressed with the signal quality of the amp but thought the door speakers sounded flat with no real sub bass coming out of them. I spoke to James on the phone and he explained he had to tune it that way because the factory 6x9's can't handle any more increase and I believe it. I bought the Hertz speakers from him and once I get them installed he said he'd help me with configuring the amp. He said once the new speakers are in and the amp retuned it would make a world of difference.

I look forward to hearing how you like the Hertz speakers.

I just re read your post. I don't think you are limited to 2 ohm speakers with the DSP4086 installed. It has the ability to accept 2 - 4 ohm speakers. The Hertz speaker I purchase are 3 ohm I believe.
