2nd Gen TRD Pro Style Grille Insert

? I was asking Schmidt about his headlights specifically lol

 

Picked up a TRD Pro grille insert from NP-Motorsports. Turned out to be pretty decent quality.

 

Just got mine installed. Purchased at NP Motorsports.

 

Sorry for the late reply but you have to buy the specific "amber" model. However, Schmidt appears to be running the non amber model. His dlr is white and the inner light is his turn signal. Could be wrong here, but that's my guess.

The amber refers to the dlr not the turn signal.

Is your bumper color matched to your truck from the factory or did you have it painted? Did you also color match the grille surround? Car paint or powder coat?

 

Thank you! My truck has the Rock Warrior Pkg. Bumpers, grille surround etc; all came color matched from factory.

Hey did you just paint over the "sensor" piece? looks good may do the same to mine...

 

Yeah. I masked off everything around the "TSS Sensor" and sprayed it with a couple light codes of Night Shades tinting spray.

Looks awesome, I waited a year for the sequoia grille its on back order. ended up cancelling and have the insert coming. both look great anythings better than stock !

Finally got mine done and thought id share as i havent seen it on the slate gray yet with black surround.
2008 Tundra. All 2010-13 grilles backordered. Found the black rock warrior one at an auto wreckers on a truck and got the mounts aswell. Got the grille and mounts for $80 CAD. Had to clean it up alot but totally worth it. Morimotos would certainly seal the deal... Before/After

 

Those of you with the painted grille...how much did you pay at body shop to paint them?

 

I ordered mine painted from Toyota. It was under $200.

 

Where did you buy the white grill surround? Or did you buy a chrome surround and have it color matched Super White?

 

I got it on Amazon from all places…but that was years ago.

 

I figured.

A bit slow & late to the game but really enjoying the fact there are so many options now which makes for finding the "right" one harder.

 

Of the two options I prefer the insert. The sequoia grill looks bad ass but the gap at bottom the leaves a lot to be desired for me. I went with the insert but I also didn't have to color match anything because I'm already in a rock warrior.

 

I totally agree about the Sequoia grill option. I love the look but that huge gap kills it for me. I thought about swapping to the Sequoia bumpers just to close that gap but the Sequoia bumpers are ugly.

I just placed an order for the Rock Warrior Super White OEM grill through my dealership. I thought about ordering a chrome version and painting it Super White myself, but the cost of materials and time are very similar.

I'll most likely order the shorter brackets and grill inserts through eBay.

So, in total cost is around $400. Not liking the numbers but it is what it is.

 

You're gonna love the look in the end and a few months down the road you won't even remember what you paid for everything. Every time you walk up to your rig it'll make you smile. And in a life where smiling matters that's money well spent IMHO.

They appear to be the cheapest seller online however they have the most BBB complaints and negative reviews I have ever seen.

Can anyone else recommend where to buy inexpensive inserts with lights? Prices on Alibaba/Aliexpress are comparable.

 

I got mine off of eBay. Different style but pretty happy with it. I decided to take out the raptor lights but it did come with them

 

Local dealership cancelled my order claiming they could not source it, and don't know how long, if ever, it will be in stock. Considering the age of the part I think Toyota may have discontinued the part.

I may have to rely on aftermarket (chrome/black) version and match-paint it myself. *sigh*

 

I bought paint matched RW grille. Insert came from Good Matchup. Gotta get rid of those chrome bumpers. I'll probably just run them over with sanding wheel, shoot primer on it, followed by can of paint.
