Wheel Size for 05 SR5 DC 4x4?

Hello! After doing some research through threads on here I've come to conflicting answers. I currently have 33x12.5x18 tires on XD wheels from previous owner.

I'm looking to get 16" wheels so I can get more tire for safer off-roading. I've gone to DiscountTire and 4WP tire/wheel shops and they're all saying that I can't fit 16" wheels without hitting the calipers. My owner's manual says it can fit 16". Some threads on here also mention running 16" but they're primarily AC not DC. My goal is to run 305x70x16 or 285x75x16 with minimal rubbing under flex. I'm guessing there's some trimming I'll need to do, but I'm not sure.

Shifty to the rescue! Lol, well caliper rub seems terrifying so 17" only for me I guess

 

Those are fj wheels iirc. Different spoke 16"s may fit

If he ran some 1.25" spacers, as is typically done on 1st gens with wheels off other Toyota's, he would have been fine.

The DC uses 13wl calipers/rotors same as AC/RC, which have 16's.

 

For my 2004 Tundra DC 4wd with stock, brake calipers and drums, I’m running 16 inch Tacoma wheels with BFG KO2s. No issues with wheels rubbing the calipers or drums. BFG tire size: 265-70R 16.

 

That’s comforting, I was looking at going with Pro Comp 29 series La Paz wheels. They’re 16x8. Maybe I’ll be fine then?

 

some 16” wheels don’t play nice with our brakes.
