Still $15k too high. Don't forget the Stellantis extended warranty or sell it before 100,000 miles.

Somewhere on youtube there is a guy with a Gen5 Ram with 200k who posts up all his issues and experiences and all the fixes and I considered it very educational when I considered one. Seems to need a bunch of front end and suspension work.

It was a couple guys on this forum who went from the 5.7 Tundra to a 6.6 GM gasser with the 6 speed. I have heard the 10 speed helps keep that motor in its power band a lot better

I guess anything lower than my HYSA technically makes sense to finance, I just can’t have a vehicle payment ever again.

They just cant seem to get their axles sorted. On my former turd gen Tacoma, dealer had to fix rear end leak twice. When i sold it, it was leaking again.
Outside of dependability, that truck was a real pile, especially when comparing it to 2012 that i had before that.
I digress, i guess this is the 'new-post-covid' reliability that we ought to get used to.

I believe that 100%. The 6 speed and only having 401hp in a 7000+ lb truck probably doesnt feel all that great.

I just picked up a LX570 and specifically went with a 2016+ because of the 8 speed and glad I did. The 8 speed keeps the gear shifts really tight. I towed 950 miles last week with it and it did great. No ecoboost, but it holds its own.

The 3rd gen Taco is a special kind of terrible. I don't care how reliable it is, I could not drive that thing every day and not hate my life.

IDK how this new one is yet. TFLTruck just bought a 4th gen TRD Offroad and they didn't seem super psyched about how it towed a relatively small offroad camper.

Congrats. It's like driving a bank vault. I've got the earlier LX with the 6 speed. Man, it is quick and responsive. Reminds me of my Tundra before I put giant LT tires on it. Unloaded on the highway, the gearing is much better than my Tundra. I have heard the later 200s with the 8 speed are better when towing and in L4.

Do you plan to add any supplementary cooling?

I can't see replacing the LX with anything else, so maybe we'll end up in a newer one at some point. 173k miles so far. I put Tundra brakes on it and fresh 5w30 every 5k miles. It runs like a sewing machine. Will have some bigger ticket items at 180k.

The LX makes my GX460 feel like a turd in almost every way, and the GX was not a crappy vehicle at all. When I first test drove the LX a few weeks back I said to my wife, "I've never driven anything like this in my life". Its like driving an M1 abrams but that can still handle decent for a 6000 lb truck. Its wild.

I may look at the transmission. Even though it has the external transmission cooler it still got up to 248* on one big climb and it was only like 55* outside. It comes right back down one you reach the top. The engine cooling seems fine and never saw it break 202. Oil temps only hit 225 from what I saw so I dont think there is really any improvement to be had there either. I know when I talked to Improved Racing about an oil cooler for my F150, they told me to use an oil cooler thermostat that would stabilize the oil temp at 220F to ensure moisture and fuel were vaporized out of the oil. I am running 10W-30 myself, just cause I had some in the garage.

I never drove the 6 speed, but the 8 speed is pretty nice. The 1st gear is super short and the shifts are quick and close together. I ran in 6th or 5th on flats 4th on some most of the climbs. Those 3 gears were only 500 rpm jumps. So at 70mph 6th would be like 2400 or 2500, 5th was ~3000, 4th was 3500. Going to 3rd was a bigger jump, more like 800-1000 rpm. I only had to use 3rd once or twice on some really steep climbs at high elevation.

no. And my interest in it is extra low since it’s hybrid only and they eliminated the torsen full-time t-case

I’ll be curious what temps you get up to towing in July/August. Speaking of handling, I ordered new AHC globes and 3 cans of fluid. I don’t have any issues, but it’s probably time to do some PM on that system.
Haven’t been interested enough to test drive one. I finally saw one in person the other day. They look nice, but it’s a major step backward from the 2nd gen’s transfer case, roll down rear window, and cargo space.

It’s like it’s in this no-man’s land between a Suburban and a LC.
Far less space and a rougher ride than the Suburban.
But it also lacks full-time 4wd and a well-thought-out suspension system (AHC or KDSS) of the Land Cruiser.

In my decision to get a new Tundra, the deciding factor came when I thought about the different brand options and how I thought the truck would be fairing in say 7 years. Repair needed, rust issues (cab corners).

I felt best with my decision to stay in Toyotas camp.

We are in a Tahoe Premier in FL for 2 days before our cruise starts. After all the previous talk here I have to agree, those seats are flat as a pancake even with the lumbar all the way inflated. No plushness and shape to them whatsoever. And no adjustable height lumbar which is bullshit in a higher trim level.

These just feel like they might be LS seats with leather and a bit of extra adjustment. I don't know if maybe it's the High country that has different contouring and padding and they want to make you go there for a genuine upgrade. I guess it saves a few pennies on everything below that to add leather and a few adjustments to the base option.

That would be some real garbage though if I got into a High Country and it still had these exact same seats but with heating in the rear and adjustable height lumbar in front.

GM really needs better seats in their upper trims. It seems like all the seats just have a different fabric over them, but it's the same basic design.

GM seats are trash, the refresh AT4 6.2 I tested was just awful, I cut my test drive short they were so bad.

I have to confess one thing though. I haven't figured out if it's a 5.3 or 6.2 as there's no markings on or under the hood. But it has duals with big quad tips. I hit the remote start coming out of the zoo and it made me nostalgic for the V8 grumble. Sounded like a Gibson or Magnaflow system. My 8 year old wasn't expecting it and the the thing barking to life made him jump.

I was surprised by how old school it sounded from the rear even if you don't get a sense of it inside because that might be too toxically masculine for the soccer Moms to hear from the driver's seat. If that rolled up next to me in traffic no way would I think it was factory piped. May even sound better than the Hemi with factory duals.

I am betting it is a 6.2. My old boss had a 5.3 and it sounded good, but not that good. I think for whatever reason the Tahoes and Suburbans only have the engine badge if it’s the 3.0 Duramax. On the pick ups they are all badged except the 2.7.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.
that Canadian ad for .99 % ......."free money", is if you are buying their truck at the inflated price of .....MSRP.
The deal has the real interest costs baked into the MSRP (for the book keepers) .
So unless you are buying unicorns like @DrZoidberg list of reserved vehicles, all these trucks are well below MSRP now. All of them

Now I never thought I would see "real" free money for borrowing in my life time, but it happened one time, 3 years ago. And it lasted a couple years. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop, but damn it if the economy doesn't still just keep plugging away - on borrowed money for most people.

Re: GM Seat Comfort comments (again)
Family member with the GMC Sierra Denali now has put on 30000 kms already, and figures as its a lease (mileage) he will be into another vehicle this summer. He says he is doing GM again and he has sat and drove every vehicle you can think of. His previous job was as an Enterprise Rental Branch manager. Every time I used to see him it was in another SUV or pickup truck. I got to drive these vehicles too.
    Very subjective.

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 2024 F150 4x4 Platinum 3.5EB with the 6.5 foot bed. Already received my quote from Granger Ford and waiting on Chapman Ford (Northeast Philly).

Possible. If so I was not as impressed by the grunt as I always thought I'd be all the years I eyeballed that motor but maybe having 570 pounds of torque on tap for a couple years spoiled me.

    Nice your doing your homework.
Be aware of missing features as I'm reading on the Ford forums Ford has been playing musical chairs on options for example an lariat missing options an xlt do list. No sure how to explain it but just be aware options are not missing. I didn't verify ACC adaptive cruise control on my past 2018 lariat, my current tundra I did double check everything this time but toyota seems alittle simpler on packaging and standard options.

Which is fairly meh. I got my 2014 Lariat for something like 25% below. Out the door I was $48k on a $57k MSRP including rolling something like $3k from my Wifes Subaru Legacy(we refi'd my wife's legacy for the maximum amount at 0.8% interest so we could put the cash into her 10% student loans, so we were underwater on it) into the transaction.

Getting 20% used to be pretty easy.

No doubt it used to be better. We put off a vehicle purchase for about 2 years due to the pandemic and not wanting to get pwned like a bunch of people that bought during the height of the market.

I think actual market selling prices are going to flatline soon. I'm not sure if I waited another year, I would be able to get an additional 10% off for a total of 20% off MSRP.

Supply is no longer restrictive at this point for most vehicles.
