For slow crawling I guess it'd be fine. I had a few buddies with various trucks with them and I never was fond of them.

@KNABORES and @BroHon ‘s crash bar convo got me to wondering two things…

Is the Sequioa grille like this plug and play for the earlier model 1st G tundras with chrome bumper, has anyone here tried and/or done it?

Does this under-grille brow strip from a sequoia fit on the later model 1st G tundras? Seems like it would fill the gap nicely on the later year bumper skin.

So glad I’m not the only person that gets this. I’m not squeamish at blood/bodily fluids, but when reading about or having someone describe to me slicing something open or off, jeez, it’s like a wincing stab to the gut for me every time! Weird.

That was my first weekend at Hidden Falls back in 2019. Prior to that, the only off roading I'd done was mud and beaches. A bunch of guys in our group went night wheeling after supper and I rode shotgun in this second gen Tacoma DC with full OME, including Dakar leaf packs. But there were asses in every seat and the owner might've had a ton of gear, I don't recall. I know it was red and I was very impressed with the ride quality vs my Toytec Bosses and 5160's with AALs.. so I asked if he had Kings or Icons and he said it was OME. That's why I'm always shocked to hear people hate on OME for our Tundras, since they're a very reputable, middle of the road, cost effective brand that I felt was smooth AF off-road.

You've got to keep in mind that most people don't have experience with a variety of suspensions, so they may only have stock vs a singular other choice worth of experience to pull from. Also, most people don't offroad their Tundras.

Could've been, like you said, he was carrying a ton of gear and asses in every seat, which is a lot of weight. Firm suspension would've helped with that, but if he was going fast, he had bottomed out on big bumps.

I'm not sure on the amount/weight of the gear, but definitely was a crawler, not a go-fast.

Did you air down? Did he air down? Airing down can make a HUGE difference in comfort for offroad. 18 to 20 ish will feel like riding on pillows vs 32/35/40.

Yeah we all aired down. I ran 18psi, not sure what he ran, but the general consensus with my wheeling group is 12-18psi
Now I usually go with 15psi. I've only ran 12 once when it was muddy and I was running stock gears and LSD on 33's. Now I've got an e-locker and 4.56
