Has anyone put a Winch on their 3rd Gen Hybrid? I was going to but Toyota recommended against it. They were concerned it could possibly fry the Hybrid Electric system somehow.

I've never heard or seen anyone install a wench on a truck before, weren't they all burned at the cross in like the 1,400s?

this seems like a perfect topic for @hagrid

What would she do to the electrical system? And I believe the more appropriate term is lady of the night…

    Oh, ok, a winch. :burp:

ya, not sure man, I would be worried about the warranty on the hybrid system if toyota told you not to do it.

a modern hybrid 1/2 ton like these all gutted out for the EPA, which active grill shutters, auto wind deflectors, etc , isnt winch material in my mind.

good luck though, somebody will try it no doubt. not sure if there is a way to totally isolate it from the high voltage portion of the system and just run off the standard electrical system.

although hooking up the high voltage portion would really get the truck pulled out fast, HA :nuclear:

like 20 to 24 times faster.....more voltage = more better.....at least 24 times faster for a second or two.

On a serious note go to YouTube and type in 2022 or 2023 Tundra TRD Pro winch install and you'll get an idea what others have done on Hybrids (all Pros are Hybrids). Keep in mind you'll have to delete any shutters or and or the lower air dam. There are a decent number of aftermarket options now for stealth and full bumpers just have to search around here and on the internets.

Didn’t @2020Platinum do a winch on his 3rd Gen TRD Pro? You might check out his YouTube channel. Pretty sure he has a covert bumper as well

I've used my 'Wench' on my Sprinter dozens of times; mostly pulling other people out. ;)

I haven't had a chance to watch your Video yet. I have a company doing a few more Mod's for me. Quick Question though: Where did you connect for the power? Toyota says they are concerned about it damaging the Hybrid system...

Direct to battery, with a cutoff switch…I keep it switched off when not in use, and obviously have the truck running when in use, works perfectly, hope that helps!

Seems simple. Toyota made it seem like the power draw could damage the Hybrid somehow. They are very Cautious about everything I wanted to do the truck; however they did an amazing job on the bumpers considering all of the sensors involved. Thank for your input! ~D
