I have 2000 Tundra with 150k miles that other than a completely blown exhaust system works great. No rust on the frame or the body. I’d be looking to do the work myself, or buy parts and bring it to a shop; but I’m looking at new manifolds, cats, a resonator, and a muffler. Any good recommendations? I get Magnaflow is good but it’s also expensive.

Cant really go wrong with the v8, if its a v6 go dumpster diving for the biggest muffler you can find behind your local muffler shop. Loud v6's arent cool, just kinda sad.

Magnaflow is cheap in comparison to most. But this is a "you get what you pay for" item.

And to that point ... Be careful with which brand of cats you go with. Numerous people have found out the hard way, there are only two or three brands of cats that WON'T cause you to throw random, annoying codes. Magnaflow happens to be one of those three.

If it were me, I'd personally spend money on gold colored wheels instead. Everyone knows they're better than good exhaust.

Would I be okay with going with magnaflow for the cats, and the something else for the manifold, muffler and resonator? Magnaflows doesn’t seem to have a cat-back exhaust kit on there site. Same with manifolds.

Just to help others help you, which engine does your truck have, V6 or V8?

What's the main intent behind buying the new exhaust? There aren't a lot of power gains to be had here without going to long tubes, which can easily open up a whole can of headaches.

2wd long tubes might be worth the hassle, but i've heard 4x4 longtubes are one of those jobs you wish you hadnt started.

Not trying to make any power. Long story short I made an impulsive purchase and I’m just trying to make the best out of my own stupidity. And it’s the v8.

I think Gibson and Bassani both make a cat-back kit for these trucks. But not sure about the RCLB.

Dont the rclb have the same wheelbase as an AC?

    IMG_6394.png

And as a bonus, they're illegal in CA if you're into that sorta thing. & available in rear exit.

coulda swore the last time i look they said they were discontinued, but i have the bassani & think it sounds good & is quiet enough i dont have to feel bad about late night startups. The magnaflow short muffler on the titan has a bit too much bark for my taste.

Located in Maine. I followed the link on Magnaflow to the Cats they have for the state of Maine.

I'd skip the resonator. The trucks i've heard without em have way more character.

ask dirty deeds if their y-pipe will work.

i didnt think maine had emissions. If not, skip the cats for some o2 sensor spacers for the rear o2's

As far as I can see they do. If I find out they don't I'd be thrilled to skip the cats.

Good for you man. But I still think I'd be fine to skip the resonator if I hear back from dirty deeds about that Y-pipe. Do you know any other Y-pipes that would also be good? I'd want to skip the resonator if I could its just extra cost.

Not personally, offhand. If i redo my exhaust i'm doing true duals, no x or h pipe. I'd just take a couple of mufflers to a muffler shop & tell em to fit em from the manifolds with 2" piping. No tips. But i like the 'poppy' exhaust note. especially at lower rpm under load. No megaphone tips.

I should be good in Maine if I go through the Magnaflow website. Does that sound right? Is there a way I could check outside of that?

they'll have to send you a certified serial number like a gun. At least someone was looking for a cert # last week or whenever. And during the inspection they may ask for that cert.

lmao like a gun. Thank you that's a great piece of info. What would happen if I let a shop buy and install the parts themselves? I'm assuming I could skip such a step for the low low price of a giant kick in my nutsack aka not a low price aka my bank account.
