Anyone have any experience with the AFE Sway-A-Way coil overs or rear shocks?

I had Sway-A-Ways on my previous truck, a 2007 Titan, for over 10 years of ownership. Original owner had installed the long-travel versions when they were still made by SAW, not by aFe. I liked the ride, so I rebuilt all four corners at around 70,000 miles and replaced the front coil-overs with new ones at about 100,000 miles. I didn't have time to do another rebuild. I never did any hard-core off-roading, so I can't say how they compare to other options.

So no good then? Would you care to elaborate a little? Seems to be very little about these on the internet so trying to figure out pro's and con's.

I’ve gone from 2” rough country leveling struts to Icon stage 4 to currently Dobinsons IMS.. That sway away looks similar to Icons (coilover unit design and rear 2” shock). Dobinsons are about the same price but are much bigger in diameter than Icon or sway away. I’m not saying they’re bad, there’s just not much info on people using them. However there are plenty users of Dobinsons with all great feedback.

Right on yeah that makes sense. I'm leaning towards Dobinson's, but also don't want to really lift the truck (maybe 1" or a little less) and after contacting Dobinsons directly they said anything lower than 2" of lift and the shocks won't perform as well. Does appear the AFE's are 2.5" front and rear. Dobinsons are 2.6", so only about a 8% increase cross section area wise over a 2.5". Get the same feeling with ICON's that they just aren't all that great for the money. Sounds like you have a good sample size on different suspensions and assuming the Dobinson's IMS are the best yet for you?

Rough country n3 2” - great product for the price but only levels the truck. Rear squats a lot when loaded

Icon stage 4 - Wanted more height and adjustability. Was the only kit available at the time. Added a C4 bumper and winch and went from 3” front to 2” front. Also much stiffer front with extra weight

Dobinsons - Can handle extra weight, bigger diameter shocks, is adjustable

Icons are just ok if staying stock, but why not just go with Dobinsons when they’re about the same price and the shock is bigger and much heavier

My Pro is 1/2" lower in the driver rear which is apparently fairly common in the 2022+ Pro's. No idea if this also applies to other model Tundra's. I unbolted the track bar before installing the BOTCK and measured and it didn't change.

This will fix ya right up: DOBINSONS POLY COIL SPRING SPACER 15MM (dobinsonusa.com)

Edit: You can use 1 spacer to compensate for lean right or left, or use 2...one on each coil...to help take out rake.

Can someone validate this setup? I might go this route if I can pull it off.
Currently I have a stock SR5 with rear level airbags. Looking at a set of TRD Pro takeoffs.
If I understand right, the TRD Pro has about 1.1” lift in the front and the rear is the same as a stock SR5.

I am thinking I could throw on a set of TRD Pro front coil overs and rear shocks and leave the rear air bags alone. Or does anyone think I would need a airbag spacer and adjustable level key for the sensor?

Considering adjusting front ride height with my Icon 2.5" coilovers and I lost my original ride height measurements from when I installed them a year or more ago. Does anyone have their original front hub to fender measurements from an SR5 TRD OR? Currently running stock UCAs so I want to keep net lift to around 2". Pretty sure I only went a little over an inch on original install to keep factory rake close. Probably a long shot but worth a try here. TIA

    Incase anyone was interested:
These are ~.5-1in longer than the stock end links. More expensive than the Dobinsons and not adjustable but an option if your trying to bling out.

The rear would just be replacing the shocks… So theoretically you’ll be leaving the coil spring and spacer/airbag/avs/or whatever you have under there alone

Thanks. I’ve read more into this and learned it is completely do-able. The only thing I haven’t fully validated how much of a lift the front would have. The 1.1” inch would be for the hybrids. I have seen only one source saying the non-hybrid lifts about 2.25”. Was hoping to find more sources but no lunch.

The reason Dobinsons recommends not adjusting the perch with the coil mounted is because the shock body is aluminum and they don't want the threads being damaged by downward tension from the spring. I would think all aluminum shock bodies with aluminum perches would have the same potential for damage.

I just installed the 3/2 MRR kit on the front last night and I'll be installing the rears this morning.

I'm going to have to raise my driver's side, about a 1/2 inch. I didn't want to disassemble the shock again to do it so I was going to put a clamp style spring compressor on the spring, then jack up that side, lube the shock body and give it a few twists.

I've used the same process on Icon's and Radflos and never had any issues. I'll report back if I destroy my new shock.

Yup, bolts right into the existing threads on the frame for the factory bump brackets and the added threads via backing plates. I'd recommend adding a landing pad on the axle which I'll be doing at some point, but it's not required as it was designed to bump right onto the housing. Heres a couple photos from mine.

Where did you buy your whole suspension kit from? You have front and rear, swap bar links, bump stops, anything else?

Shocks were ordered through @AccuTune Offroad. Tuned and refilled with JM92.

Aside from what you mentioned, billet links are the only other suspension components I have on the bench to install. That's all I'll be doing to the suspension until there's a front long travel and rear trailing arm kit I like. Then, it'll be a road trip down south to have some shops put their magic touch on the truck.

Have there been any issues related to your red trd axles and your lift? I currently have a 2024 tundra with red trd axles and I am going to install a readylift 3inch lift kit . Just looking for some reviews to make a decision

the panhard bar is to adjust side to side, while the bracket kit is to adjust it up to keep it flatter. if its at a steep angle your rear end will feel unstable. kind of shocked not alot of people run either. common for even 2" rear lift to have it out 3/4". im going to try to get away with just the bracket kit when i do the dobinsons ims 3/2"
