So here we are. I figured I’d start this and add as more parts have shown up and it’s almost time for install/fab on the tundy. I know I should have started this when I first joined cause I’ve definitely forgotten some of the things I’ve done. But fux it

started with all your normal shenanigans:
    •UBJ
    •LBJ
    •steering rack bushing (suspensions dudes)
•aisin timing belt and water pump kit
    •flushed and replaced all fluids
(except tranny. I know you assholes)
    •front bumper chop

this pic is to show how well SuperLube holds up in wet. We had about 3 days of solid rain after I installed these and I’m a distribution driver so I was all over the roads and the lube held up amazingly well in some of the wettest conditions I could of put them through.
    IMG_4250.jpg

went ahead and picked up NiLight fogs and found me a old Chevy grill guard that I’ll be using to fab up my pre-runner bumper.

    IMG_4169.jpg
    IMG_4287.jpg

The stack of parts is getting nice. I’ll probably get to work on the bumper this weekend while I order up some extended sway bar links and decide on what I’m gonna do on the rear.
Maybe buy @shifty` s AAL or just “buy once; cry once” some HD leafs. We’ll see

Paint on chrome. Probably gonna get chippy fast. Plans for different finish in the future?

all in all the install went smooth as silk. Thanks to @memario1214 @ HotShot Off-road for the 5100's/2885's. KSP UCA went in smooth. Used red n tacky for the bushings and new ball joint.

    Set up is a 17x9 -12mm ANNNDD a 1" spacer. tires are 285/75r17
Pinch weld was the only thing I rubbed, but I believe that's due to my lack of a front bumper

    best $140 I spent lol

edit: I will also add @Tundra2 i think it has more to do with quality of wire than the welder itself. I chose the flux125 since I can control wire speed and power in increments as opposed to the Chicago which is just max or low. I use Lincoln wire in all my projects and it lays a solid bead with minimal spatter beads. I'm sure there's other great fluxcore wires out there but Lincoln is readily available, although expensive

Here are some before/afters. I should have put the stockers back on to see how much lift. With 5100's/2885's on a DC 2WD for y'all nerds. But I was impatient.

it's definitely at a point where it's settled so I'll take more measurements today. Or my eyes are just used to the heights already.

Finally got the time to put this Kayak Rack together. IMG_4545.jpg IMG_4546.jpg IMG_4544.jpg

Also put the ditch lights on. Dealing with the hood was the most annoying part. A lot of muscles are cramping/don't wanna function properly right now.

How does it ride with the 2885’s? Looks great I may have to get new springs at some point but don’t want that much lift. Tires and wheels came out great too

Unfortunately the only thing I can compare them to were the old, blown out 4600's that came on it. So it drives 100x better.

    I don't have any complaints

Went ahead and tinted the front windows. 20% Gila heat shield elite. Definitely makes the truck look nicer. And the ceramic should help keep heat down.

Did another run to a coast. Took some cool sunrise pics. Slayed some redfish. IMG_4626.jpg IMG_4624.jpg IMG_4623.jpg the truck also got some crazy good gas mileage. I was surprised seeing as everything is oversized, but I'm getting better highway mileage for sure.

    2010 4Runner/GX460 brakes installed.
Jim Smola from FB is where I got them milled. You can message him directly. He recommends OEM (duh) but others he recommends are Callahan and TRQ. Cal was out and I wanted the yellow powerstops. He said he had a few start to leak over the 4 years he's been doing this so he kindly recommended not to get them so I went with the red TRQ.

Rotors and pads are PowerStop Truck and Tow.

    IMG_4784.jpg
Milled to perfection. They bolted right up with zero issues.
    IMG_4787.jpg
You do have to "massage" the brake line into place. But it's nothing crazy and shouldn't be too anxiety inducing. The sketchiest part was I took my brake lines off with a 10mm and not a crows foot. THAT was sketchy.

    IMG_4786.jpg

pads in. Double spring action fuckers. IMG_4789.jpg
Then Mother Nature said "you gotta chill, you're going too fast"
    IMG_4792.jpg

finally got the passenger side buttoned up and bled. IMG_4794.jpg

went out to do the "break-in" procedure per recommendation via PowerStop.

conclusion:: she stops WAAAAAYYYYYY betters. And I'm almost positive my little shimmy while driving is gone. Not 100% sure on that now I'm thinking one of my calipers was stuck or the driver was torqued too tight. (Had to get the breaker bar AND a pipe while the pass. side took minimal effort with the breaker bar)

    and some comparison pics.

    stock:IMG_4791.jpg

    2010 4Runner/gx460::
    IMG_4790.jpg

Things I would note. Dr. caliper and Pass. Caliper aren't marked sometimes. Just make sure the brake line hole is pointed up; And the bleeder should be at the Top of the caliper.

I also looked everywhere to see the proper configuration of the pads and it seems that squeeler inside/bottom is how most factory vehicles have it positioned.

Good to know about the ditch lights. Was there any cutting of the wiper cowl involved to fit the brackets? Seen a few cases where that’s required

negative ghostrider. Bolted right up and clears perfectly. I will say::

I would 100% recommend you cut slits into where the bolts, half loosen the hood bolts and go to slide the bracket on and bolt it down; as opposed to removing the bolts from the hood entirely to do this. The hood shocks are CRAZY strong and I got the workout I never asked for while trying to do this by myself.

eventually I just completely unbolted the hood shock and handled it that way. It sucked. 10 out of 10 would not recommend

Looks great. You planning on a tube bumper or just running it as is? Does anybody make a high clearance hitch for these? I don't tow that often but would be nice to keep the capability

I'll make a bumper for it soon enough.

as far as hitch is concerned; I'm not too sure. I don't tow often either but I got a old hitch, off a ford, I can hack up and make something out of if I really need it

So I've been up to some shit. And I'm terrible at updating. My dog just died last night. She was the best. Can't stand being in my house So today I went and finally did the spare relocate.

Ive had to drive on this KO2 once. And I fucking hate it (LOUD) I need to change it out asap. But it holds air and will get me through most shit so it'll kinda just hang out for the moment.

I also did a "Texas snorkel" since I had to gut my pass. fender well. Did some more sledge hammering and routed some 3" intake tube to a 3" intake duct I got off the zon. IMG_5113.jpg IMG_5115.jpg

had to cut out a good amount to get the tube to sit IN as you can see. Otherwise I could NOT (for the fucking life of me) get the fender to bolt on.

it's bolted on now, but fuck me if the gap isn't shit.

next will be some sort of pre-filter sock that I cut out and adhere to a ring that has some magnets so I can just pop it over the intake duct on the outside of the fender.

it's rained multiple times and no issues yet. But the pre-filter would be a nice "peace of mind" modification and would also look a little more modest compared to a gaping hole in my fender

Yea, I knew it was coming and I still cried like a bitch.

She gets to run around and play fetch all day and go fishin' with my mom and dad now though; so I say she got the better end of the deal.
