    I'm good with my 2023 MYLR but Tesla made a big deal about the upcoming performance 3 refresh. Plus this comment from head of Tesla investor relations to James May had everyone wondering wtf was gonna be so special about it. That's a loaded smiley face if I ever saw one.

    Fair enough. Twinkle my nose, if I had the house/garage situation set I'd definitely consider the M3LR. Especially the new style, but I think I'd buy one of the used older ones because of the heavy price discount and the fact that they still get $4K tax break.

    Well that's good, because if they start breaking Spaceballs canon they're sellouts! "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine." :laser:

    Also fyi a family member just bought a used model 3 with 25k miles and it was basically perfect (as much as a used car can be). I was gonna get a used Y myself except that $7500 tax credit was too tempting.

    The $7500 sounds good, but the deals on lightly used are solid.

    For example the new M3LR is $47,740 so call it $40K for easy math. That's starting price in the base color.

    Then right on Tesla's site there's this 2022 LR at $37,300. Take $4K off for the tax credit and call it $33K. Then look at the fact that it comes with the FSD upgrade and it's an even better deal. If you will take more mileage there are even cheaper ones too.

    Given that there aren't gears to grind, oil to forget to change, and that accelerating quickly doesn't hurt the motors.... I can't justify paying $7K more for a new one. Especially because I'm probably 3-5 years from remotely considering this and by then the new body style will be available at similar prices on the used market.

    They all had that capability in that year, but some are only listed as Advanced Auto Pilot. It's because on the older cars it was locked to the car, wasn't it?

    It’s not. My vehicle is FSD capable. Bobs is, Zach’s is, etc.It simply means the hardware is there, but it’s not included. They still need to pay $200/mo (now) or pay the full price of FSD for it to be enabled. In order for it to transfer with the owner to another Tesla, Tesla has to have a promotion going on

    That's from 4 years ago. My guess is that on the preowned they were cars that it was purchased on, and it stays with the vehicle. That's why it's not on all of them.

    No. If the owner gives it to Tesla (trade in/sell) Tesla does in fact remove it so they can sell it to the next one. If it’s at a private dealer, 99% of the time (from what I have seen/read) it remains on it with the new owner

Notice that the non FSD say they can be upgraded but the FSD states that it will be upgraded as features evolve. They come with it, not just ready for it.
