I’d be careful about not tossing those rubber shields out or mangling them. The 02 has identical parts (when they should not be) for both left and right side even though they’re different numbers and labelled appropriately. I verified that when I got them reordered twice.

Hopefully not the case with other years.

 

Not sure I can stomach these green LED’s for dash backlight. I’ll check tonight. Kinda pukey color

 

Right. They're $40 to replace so if they come with the recall kit that'd be great or if not wondering if everyone is just having success at 300k+ mile still using the originals! As don't usually see talk of adding them to the order when everyone's buying the separate LBJs.

 

I ended up running without them. At least I can see when one side starts to leak.

 

Like others said, you should be able to reuse them.

I thought he said he inadvertently got the displacement on demand cam instead of the DOD delete cam he wanted.

Yeah. Crazy confusing. Various dealers say individual LBJs won't have them but can't say what's in the recall kit. Guess if get the kit just be ready to supply own cotter pins (no big deal) and reuse the castle nuts and protector where the individual ones likely come with nuts and cotter but who knows about the shield.

factory 6.6L gas GM cam. L8T. Tuned more for low end torque than high end HP the way I understand it. Supposedly runs just like stock, no one can really tell the difference. They didn’t make a 6.2 delete cam, so this is the best factory option.

 

On my ‘03 I ordered individual replacements (OEM), they did not come with new rubber shields but did come with new castle nuts and I believe cotter pins (it was a few years ago, I can’t say for sure on the pins). I reused the shields, they were fine.

Buying individuals, it came with a baggy that had a cotter, castle nut in it. And the units came with a rubber shield screwed on. I bought 8 new bolts.

I was told the kit was barebones. No cotters, no nuts, no shields, no bolts. It's a little cheaper. Glad I bought individual.

Sadly, I didn't realize there was a cotter and castle in the 1st one so I reused the old, which was in solid shape. I told myself I'd get around to swapping back in the new later. Haven't gotten to it yet.

Well what was supposed to be a simple inner tie rod swap has now turned into a partial front end rebuild. Just ordered new OEM LBJ's and outer tie rods. The sale they are having is great timing.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm now starting to really consider buying some redneck bling brodozer fake beadlock wheels, when I am ready for 17's and 35's. After y'all schooled me on the fact that some do have a detachable rock ring, which serves the purpose to protect the wheel rim. I'm no stranger to chewing up my rims on rocks while offroading. All five of my KMC's have rock rash. Some, like my current spare, are pretty chewed the F up.
So now I'm at a crossroads. I want the skinny Kenda Klever 35x10.5's, so I think a 17x8 would be ideal for aired down offroading. I had been planning on the Level8 MK6 wheels with -10 offset. So now I am in search of another good looking 17x8 with a little offset and redneck bling. Preferably a 6 spoke, but open to other options with a 106mm hub from back to front, so I can easily retrofit some decent Toyota center caps.

 

Haven’t had a fitted hat I like for years. Got to fooling around with photoshop today. What do y’all think? There are an infinite number of patch designs available on Etsy. It’s crazy.

Took me a while to understand why. I guess the DC is a better wheeling option or something.

 

I'd maybe buy one of that second set, with the mountains.

 

Shorter wheelbase, longer bed to start with. So he could cut (shorten) the frame and still have some cab and bed to work with.
