I am going to change my front and rear diff fluid and am considering the Redline ShockProof oil. I tow occasionally and live in a hot climate. I guess this is 75-90 weight. Anyone use this or is it just overkill.

I’ve used it in the past with no issues. In performance and rock crawling applications. It’ll be fine. So will generic Lucas 75-90 or royal purple or o’reilly’s or etc.

    Now cue the fan boys.

There is a huge difference in price between top tier and the cheapest brands.

You will never reap the benefits, if any, of the boutique oils. If a mechanical part is going to fail, it due to human error, manuf error or material error. No oil in the world can protect any those from happening. Same goes for all the fluid in your truck. Change it and change it often, maintenance is more important than anything else. I have done the my rear diff twice already and I am at 37k. First time was at 15k and the magnet was full of factory shavings. Second was at 30k and it was good. Next one will be at 60k. I used Mobil1 diff fluid.
