Alright, sorry about that, I just got the truck back today after a lot of unexpected issues, and my work is also driving me up the wall with bids that are due in a week instead of two.

    Here's what happened:
The starter was bad. Period. It went bad (possibly just a bad unit, but lasted 33K miles for some surprise)
While trying to get the truck to start, we (me and my friend and roadside assistance) either direct connect/battery pack jump start to try and get it to crank, but no dice.
My friend and I inspected the whole thing prior to calling it a night and confirmed the said 100 amp fuse was intact.
(So, side story, he helped me put "two" 100 amp fuse to make the positive cable longer by a few inches from the starter to battery, so that's where the 100 amp fuse comes in. I don't agree with it but now am looking how to get a whole cable from starter to battery without killing the starter again)
I was not there when the tow truck picked up the truck (it was sitting on the curb of my friend's house and I was home watching my kids) but somewhere after the truck was dropped off and when they completed the inspection to come to the conclusion of a bad starter, a neg connection must have happened and it busted the 100 amp fuse (how? I have no idea, it's a 100 amp for crying out loud.)
Dealer end up replacing the starter under (extended) warranty (parts $232.95 labor $756.71 + some misc charges and tax, total $1038.08) I went out and got the 100 amp fuse from local audio store ($5) so I can start my truck.
I picked up the truck today around noon and can confirm that the truck is again, whole.
Of course, next, will be trying to get the whole positive cable replaced to avoid this from happening again.

Sorry about about the confusion, I do hate it when phone connections aren't great and conversations are vague at best, but also advisors are just passing the word along and we all know how that can go haywire really fast and that's what happened here. Getting to the dealer in person today cleared up a lot of miscommunication and I guess, lesson learned.

What is the end story of the 100a fuse? Because AFAIK it is not stock.

It's not. It was put there as a. extension of the cable from starter to battery and b. act as a buffer, which I am not sure what it is trying to protect.
But, it is in the process of being removed and replaced with a longer positive cable to avoid this in the future.

Good question, I believe because of the AGM 31M battery that I put in.
The terminal was on the other side of the battery and the cable was short by 3-4 inches?

My friend, when I asked him to help me put the 31M battery in last March when I was overseas.
I guess I just didn't register it as weird/odd and disregard it.

LOL, yeah that info would have been more helpful earlier in the thread.

BTW, I would reconsider having that friend do you any more vehicle favors.

surprising to see a starter go so early. my 07 went out at 150k and my 2000 went out at 310k. the 4.7 v8 has the starter under the intake and is still an easier install than the 5.7 which is burried on the side in a horrible place.

I know, even the dealer when they confirmed back the issue was saying the same thing that they were surprised it went out so early.
But I guess, as with any parts, it can go out any time, any mileage, just lower mileage has been pretty much unheard of....
And I agree, it is at a horrible location to even try and fix it myself....
