Well I re-designed my exhaust. Got inspired by @reywcms and his SPDPerformance exhaust. Welded in j-pipe resonators at 26.5 inches to be mounted on top and dumped over axle. No drone at 1900-2100 rpm. It is louder especially when in boost. Had to add that to keep it SC related...
I haven't welded in years so be nice.

That’s awesome. What is your welding setup for welding exhaust pipe? That’s one thing I would love to be able to do. I would weld an H pipe into my TRD duals right now if I knew how. And I’d cut out those rear cats too.

There's probably a procedure for zeroing it out or adjusting it for your elevation or reference elevation. Mine can be adjusted to reference from sea level or from whatever my current elevation happens to be.

If it’s reading inHG in vacuum, -4 is about right for your elevation assuming you’re in Pinetop (freaking awesome place to MTB, IMO). With the engine off, my gauge reads -3.9 inHG or thereabouts. Depending on pulley and setup, you might only be seeing 3 psi as well…

What does it read at idle?

450 pages! Damn! That's a lot of reading!

Now that the 5.7 is no more, it seems the price of a supercharger/fit kit should drop. But probably won't.

I got the green light to install one on my '21 from the war department.

Where is the best price to be found?

I'll be installing it myself, if that matters.

Please no hate for not searching, just was hoping to get a nudge in the right direction.

    Thanks in advanced.

Best prices I've seen were around Black Friday to New Year, specifically Whipple had the best % off (they all have deals around that time). I would have to go back if to see if it was direct from the manufacturer or through a vendor or installer.

I borrowed my buddies Lincoln 140 amp mig welder. Runs on 120v. Using .030 flux core wire I had to dial it down to 42 amps. I started at 50 amps and fricking burned through .095 inch pipe. I always disliked filling burn through.
Lots of reading for sure! Try Super chargers online, SCOL. Then Google for the Magnuson 2650, Harrop or Whipple. Lots to choose from. Might be a Presidents day sale?

I got mine direct from Whipple on their Black Friday sale. There were one or two other vendors that had them for the same price, but I think ordering direct from Whipple help push me up in line. It was expected to ship on 2/15 and it shipped around 12/13.

    Ah thank you for confirming.

Since this is the case @koditten you can sign up for Whipple's email list if you have the patience to wait. Some of the vendors also had discounts at specific time of the year. They are all pretty close but I remember Whipple's was the best just no tune available at the time of my purchase.

No stainless wire? I'm told that's the way to go as flux core or ER70S will usually rust. But, then again, you did paint it...

I'm at 8k ft, running the smallest overdrive pulley currently available (stock is 86mm, I'm at 70mm) and I will "only" see 7psi relative to sea level. I don't think that 3psi at 7k ft stock is that far off. Anyone want to do the math for me, I'm headed off to bed and don't want to overheat my brain.

So, at 7000 ft elevation, air pressure is 11.3 psi relative to 14.7 psi at sea level. Different of about 3.4 psi, so at if your gauge was calibrated at sea level, with the engine off it will read atmosphere, which is -3.4 psi to sea level. Could explain the -3.9 psi reading. Since you are reading -10.9 at idle, the gauge is reading PSI an not inHG at vacuum else it would be around -23 inHG which is normal.

Since the gauge reads atmosphere at -3.9 psi, and your blower makes 7-8 psi out of the box, accounting for lost air density at altitude, and 3 psi peak is not out of the realm of possibility. The blower is making ~7psi of boost using thinner air (it could make more boost at sea level because the air is thicker) to take you from -3.9 psi to +3 psi - a total gain of 7 psi. That's how altitude affects air and blowers and motors. You are still making the extra 7 psi and getting 7 psi worth of power, you just started at an air pressure deficiency and were down 20+% on power from the same motor at sea level.

My truck does the same thing to make up for lost air density. Full throttle pull to redline and I blip 6 psi but usually stay in the 3-4 psi range when getting in to it and not sending it to the moon.

Edit: to add a little bit - boost pressure is a just a measure of restriction. You can make more power on less boost when it is done efficiently. Look at @reywcms new exhaust thread; he dropped 1 or 2 psi with the new exhaust but didn't lose any power. So comparing boost isn't the best way to compare power unless all other variables are held constant. Boost is great, but the PSI figure isn't as important, I guess, as we make it out to be.

My system was one of the early 3 inch race true duals from DD. It's .095 aluminized steel. So the Flux core will eventually match the rest of the system.

Ok thanks for the explanation. I also found out how to zero the gauge. If I zeroed at my elevation would it be off again when I traveled to a decent elevation drop?

I got my Harrop from SCOL with a $500 off labor day sale. The sale technically hadn't even started, but he gave me the discount as it was coming without asking.
