My poor BIL is getting the riot act from me. So much neglected maintenance on this truck. He’s never replaced his cabin air. Or changed his brake fluid. Or his diffs and transfer case, at 150k miles. Ugh. He’s spending the money to do it now since he’s saving so much on this repair and I won’t let it out of the shop without the maintenance getting caught up.

He does. He always has. He's a great guy. I don't consider him my BIL in real life, we're just brothers. I met him when he was 9 years old and I was 17. We hunt together, fix shit together, help each other out whenever we can. We even roomed together for a little while when I started college and stayed at my future in-laws. I appreciate him as a brother, this is the least I could do.

I dreamed I bought a new project Toyota.
    It was an Australian import.
A blue 2000's Hilux, with NA I-6 diesel (I don't think they really put those engines in these, probably a swap from a Land Cruiser) and it was leaking oil everywhere, also had a bad ring, but it ran haha

Went to visit a junkyard for WL calipers and they were WE’s unfortunately. The shape of the frame on this truck just blew my mind, I live in TX/OK the truck was formerly registered in WI.DA0F201A-4503-4344-9546-85E2B789447C.jpg 6882F25A-96D8-42E5-9A28-80F28719F6CF.jpg 2A5B7E1A-5439-4F75-ABBA-5AE38B649C95.jpg EA65A373-FE85-422B-BD0F-5519D18828D2.jpg

This is local to me, someone’s failed dream maybe? Not quite a Hilux

    IMG_1714.jpg

Not cheap, but there are a number of Hilux and Surf models around BC, this popped up too:

So, I've been looking at getting a new HU since I'm tired of my Kenwood not connecting to my phone and Spotify fast enough, and having shitty BT range. I know it's not @shifty` approved, but this checks all the boxes:

    Screenshot_20240220_110335_Adblock Browser.jpg

I generally don't like cheap shit, but this checks off all the boxes.

    Double din
    Volume knob
    4v preouts
    Touchscreen
Edit: doesn't cost an arm and a leg

It has android auto, whatever that is. Is that where the Spotify pops up on your screen? That's what I want. I don't care about a reverse cam either; my neck works fine. Opinions?

I'm sure it's fine. Yes AA should give you everything on the radio screen.

I put this one in my daughters car and it works well. The adjustable screen is pretty nice.

That's Wisconsin for ya. FGTs are really quite uncommon up here because they've all rusted out. I go to college in Milwaukee, and I've only seen one. The bedsides were completely gone and the parking brake cable was dragging on the ground behind the axle.

That's probably what my frame looked like before it got recalled. Well, maybe not that bad. But still really bad.

@bmf4069 Dual was a solid brand for quite a while and were some of the only ones to make decent stuff for vintage vehicles BITD.

That said, if you want Android Auto or CarPlay, you need to know there are two versions: Wired and Wireless. You'll want something that offers wireless AA.
