It was the right choice for me. Usually drive far off places and wanted that extra little MPG boost on my trips. In short, happy. Strong take off, seems to be weaker around 30-40MPh and then strong again. Sometimes I wake up from a nap and catch myself going 100 barely tapping the peddle.

Yeah the throttle input is kinda impressive at speed. I haven’t buried the pedal yet, I don’t really need to…..

You don't have much elevation change there right? That's another reason I kick OD off.

I like my 4.56. I don’t love my 11 MPG :). I probably should size up a little on tires but I got the last set for $600 and they are as big as I can go on 16’s. So I probably need 17’s to get 33’s on. And that’s a lot of cash for no actual need at the moment.

I use O/D off in a few circumstances as well as in hilly terrain sometimes.@tvpierce posted a great explanation about the function of the O/D button combined with the torque converter that has stuck with me. Definitely run it off in the sand.

So does OD off keep your trans in 3rd instead of 4th (a340) or 4th instead of 5th (a750)? Like does it lock you out of top gear?

Yes, O/D off and in Drive you're locked out of fourth gear.

I go OD off in town sometimes and will even drop the selector down to 1st for hole shots. Occasionally the truck shifts into second to fast and lugs a bit. Also OD off with heavy towing.

Made progress on the BILs 6.2 GM today. Haven’t worked on it in a week due to work and being up at my sisters cabin this weekend making smoked sausage. Got the new cam in, new lifters in, timing set, timing cover back on and oil pan is almost ready to go back on. Ran out of RTV. Then we’re ready to stab it back into the trucks open gaping mouth hole. Gratuitous shots of said sausage and gaping mouth hole.

In my Corolla, there's a grade with no sharp turns I always drive down where I have to turn O/D off and on momentarily for it to actually drop down into fourth/ OD. Otherwise the car will hold third the whole way down the grade, and I have to give it gas before reaching the bottom. If I trick it into O/D, it'll coast the whole way down within the speed limit, with minimal gas or braking.

We used to get the gold plated trim in the shop a lot but mostly it was on the Camry. The gold plated look never made it to future generations for some reason. We would have to call a guy to come out and install the gold plated cover on the regular emblems after repairs. It is a pretty cool process.

I would be curious to see what my white truck would look like with gold emblems and the gold wheels. I’ve been mulling over whiting out the gunmetal strip in my door trim for a minute now, or even going gold with it.

For the record, I hate yellow gold. My wife is baffled as to my choices on my truck. She can’t figure it out. She knows I’m a chrome/steel/gunmetal fan, so she’s quietly scratching her head right now…

I'm with you on disliking yellow gold but for some reason I love it when it comes to wheels or on a white/black truck. It just fits for some reason. For what it's worth, I think that your truck would look pretty damn good with the gold emblems to match the wheels. I have been keeping my eye on those TRD tacoma gold/bronze wheels and will probably go with those after the suspension upgrade.
