This is the problem with the Dongar, also happens with Viofo dash cams. If you get an engine auto stop/start the cam reboot process causes significant downtime while you are at or pulling away from intersections where stuff happens a lot. So, I ditched the Dongar and changed over to hardwire from the front passenger side fuse box. One problem with that is that the fuse box cover has so little clearance from the fuses that it won't fit and clip in over the fuse taps. I made an alternative fuse box cover that has extra headroom for fuse taps for 3D printing that you can get here. There is also a Word file to print the fuse box label to glue on and laminate onto the new cover:

So this isn’t just a me problem? After reading a few threads I could find no mention of anyone else having the dash cam restart using the start/stop feature. I’m using a Vantrue E2 and am having an issue again where the camera boots up when I start the truck, then restarts after 7 seconds. I replaced the rear camera once after chatting with Vantrue and it fixed the problem for a couple months but it started again yesterday. Is this a power problem or should I switch to a different brand?

IDK for sure but the power supplied by this cable does have a momentary loss of power or drop in voltage during the actual engine restart. Maybe some brands of cameras have capacitors that buffer that out... or people just aren't aware that this is happening. If you mount the cam on the passenger side, you may not even see it happen, but I have mine on the driver's side, so it was obvious. Hardwiring solved everything. And it is really simple to do.

    None... yet.
    fyi

I have the dongar adapter - and its plugged into the wire harness that is in the ceiling (light, sunglass holder, etc) console. Unsure if this wire - since it is meant for a factory dashcam - is somehow set up different from other possible "tap" locations. With my Rexing V1P 4K plugged in to there, it comes on when I start the truck (2024 tundra) and stays on until I turn off the truck. Engine stop/starts when at traffic lights, etc, have no affect on the camera at all - it stays on.

Which diagram in AllData is this? The pic is pretty blurry but I have AllData access.
