Has anyone figured out how to shut off the annoying beeps when the engine is on but walk away and shut the door with the key still in your pocket? I have the carista obd tool and searched in the menus but I couldn't find anything.

Agree, remember stories of people parking and then forgetting it was on because they forgot to shut vehicle off ?? Yeah, can't fix stupid so this is where we are at. Same with the warning on plastic bags ... hopefully people who bake their babies can read.

I tried to disconnect it and a light comes on in the dash
Maybe a resistor or something similar can be installed.
Or maybe wrap it up somehow to mute the sound a little

I traded a 22 F-150 for my 24 Tundra. It's interesting how my expectations were lowered by the Ford. For comparison, when I left the F-150 running and closed the door, it would honk the horn twice. Neighborhood dogs would start barking, anyone within a quarter mile would turn and look, and every single time, I would mutter a few choice words about that design decision. After hearing that horn repeatedly, the beeps don't bother me that much.

The only way to mitigate this is by turning down the beep volume to minimum. Makes it somewhat less irritating.

It's a simple reminder that you walked away from your running vehicle with unlocked doors and that your car can be driven away by your toddler/angry neighbor/any passing hooligan and you may want to keep an eye on it.

In the driver side wheel well towards the front is the beeper, it’s a gray little box. I unplugged mine, and it’s been working fine like that with no lights on the dash or anything. Much less annoying without it, the horn still honks when I unlock the truck and lock it. Just no beep

Interesting. Do you have pics of the box? When you say "unplugged" did you literally just unplug a connection, so it's easily reversed if need be?

Did your horn honk before you unplugged the beeper? Mine beeps when I lock / unlock. The same beep the OP references when you walk away with the engine running and the key in your pocket.

In other words, did you do something else to make your horn honk with unlock / lock instead of beep?

Nope, my horn has always honked when I lock and unlock the truck. It’s a completely stock 2023 tundra Trd sport. Yours doesn’t ?

No. It beeps. One beep on lock. Two beeps on unlock. And then 7 beeps if you walk away from the truck with the engine on and the key in your pocket. Same beep. Not a honk... I wonder if this is a vehicle setting? Will explore and post tomorrow.

Been driving for almost 30yrs, all sorts of cars and trucks and would agree with you all day long. However I am feeling the stupid since getting this 2023 Tubdra Capstone. I can not tell ya how many times I just about get out of my truck and forget to push the power button to turn off the truck. Not hearing the engine. Hybrid quiet. No key. And me aging. It's all recipe for stupid.

Here two more: (1) keeps telling me to check the back seat via the app and (2) the seat belt alarm (not a ding) goes off every time a kid is in the rear and they ARE buckled. My youngest buckles the middle seat with no one in it to shut up the truck!!!

Yes! I turned off the back seat and passenger seat alarms with Carista. Most of the time I’m in the truck by myself and every time I throw stuff on a seat, the alarm would intermittently alarm. The the dash indicator still comes on, but no audible alarm. And I’m with you on almost forgetting to turn the truck off lol

Ditto on 24 Pro. I'm fine with the beeps, it's a good reminder.

regarding the honking, does it honk if you hit lock multiple times? I haven't tested my tundra but I know other vehicles have historically done this so you can confirm it is locked.

Mine does not. That would be pretty annoying for the neighbors at 5AM when using the FOB to do a remote start. My old Silverado and the wife's CX5 both honk on multiple lock button pushes.

For the haters of the beep when you walk away with the engine running, I figured out today that if you don't close the drivers door all the way, it doesn't beep. At least for my '23 1794.

Or maybe they should build it so the truck can’t be put into gear without the key in it. It doesn’t make any sense to me that it turns off when it’s remote started and you open the door to get in, but if you start it and walk away, someone can jump in and drive away without the key being in the truck.

It is for push to start vehicles, not just Toyota. Mainly so a passenger that may have the only key does not get dropped off and walk away with the key. Driver can still drive without a key but will be stranded if they stop for gas, etc.

Wha!!! I will have to test this as all my other keyless vehicles prevent putting the vehicle in drive or R without the key inside the frame.
