Might be better to check the tacoma forums for that...

I am likely downsizing to a Tacoma soon since I don't need a V8 for towing anymore. I personally prefer the styling of the 3rd gen more than the new 4th gen. All the reviews claim the new 4th gen Tacoma is better in every way, however, MPGs are about equal.

I went from a 2015 Tundra to a 2017 Tacoma. Never again. Don't get wrong, it was a nice truck. Easy to whip around in a parking lot. Easy to park and all the other stuff that comes with a mid-size truck. But, interior size is what killed it for me. After being use to a tundra and other spacious SUVs, the Tacoma doesn't cut it and I am not a tall person, 5,6 185lbs. Say what you want, but personally, I would buy a Honda Ridgeline over the Tacoma if I was just looking for a everyday DD that's comfortable and spacious. Now you off-road a lot, then you can't beat a Tacoma.

Yeah I love my tundra also but don't really tow either. I been trying to go test drive a new one just to see and feel the difference (Tacoma)

One of my coworkers was just going through same thing in deciding between a used Tundra or a new Taco and decided to get on a waitlist for a new SR5 Taco.
The interior of the current Tacoma is just way too small for me so hopefully the new one will feel a little more spacious.
(I have three kids so that’s why I am complaining about the size).

I’d like to downsize to a Tacoma. I’ve had many 2nd and 3rd generation Tacomas. I currently have a regular cab 2003 Tacoma that I drive almost everyday to work. I just don’t know if I want to give on a full size truck for the times that we ride as a family together. I definitely will be ready in 6-7 years when I retire. The new Tacoma is not much bigger than the 3rd generation, if you have kids you will be extremely disappointed going from a Tundra to a Tacoma.

Go for it. If you don’t like it they have great resale! They are great little trucks with tons of aftermarket goodies.

Are you looking at a 23 or 24 Tacoma? Completely different trucks which could really sway your decision.

check out Tacomaworld.com it’s like the Tacoma sibling site to tundras.com some common faces over there as well

Been there… you’ll spend nearly all your time sorting thru the bitching and whining for little real gen4 info.

Resale is great but you have the consider the drop in value as soon as you drive it off the lot. If you think you may or may not like it buy used.

I drove a couple of the 2022/2 tacos, and wasn’t too impressed they could make power but not until about 4000 rpm’s, one I had rented had the off road suspension and handling and ride was pretty rough at highway speeds, they got about 20 mpg, so end of the day, I wouldn’t get rid of the 17 tundra for one but to each their own, it was easier to park the taco

Not enough data on the new model Tacoma. That said I wouldn’t buy first year new model again.

I was shopping for a Tacoma when I got my 2019 tundra. I test drove a bunch of them and it felt sluggish and small. I loved the look of them. But, we had a camper at the time that would have been close to maxing out the ability of the Tacoma. I pivoted and started looking at tundras for the ease of towing, looks, and quite frankly the value when compare to the Tacoma price (it wasn’t that much more to step up to the tundra).

In the end, I just couldn't justify the price of the Tacoma with the limitations of size, towing capacity and the feeling of sluggishness while driving it.

All that said, I am very intrigued by the new Tacoma as life circumstances have changed - kids are grown and have their own car, we don’t have a camper and I don’t necessarily “need” a 1/2 ton. I also don’t need another car payment, but once the hybrid Tacoma goes through the paces and works out the kinks, I may be a buyer.
