I don't think he is doing anything illegal. Toyota doesn't care who sales their warranty and how much margin one adds to it, so Jerry is covered I think. I hope :)

it’s clearly not illegal or else this would have been stopped.

im sure he’s hated by a lot of finance managers and needs to be protected at all costs.

True but the finance managers can't do squat :) I just got me wife a 2024 Honda Pilot Trailsport and the same thing, 2 separate places like Jerry sales Honda extended. I got 2 quotes from them for $1400 and I took that into the finance manager, and guess what, he matched :)

Is Toyota Extra Care: Platinum, 96 months, 125K miles, 0 deductible for $2800 for Tundra Hybrid Platinum a fair price extended warranty?

    No.

I received a quote for the same coverage for over $1000 less.

Thanks for the info. Just bought a 2024 tundra 1794 edition. And also bought the extended warranty. First they offered me $4500. Buy i search on their website that a 7yr 100kmiles platinum 0 deductible cost $3750. So they lower it down to that price. Now i see how much the real cost for a 10yr 100k is onlyor at least $2k. That's a lot of commission. Now since its almost a week can i still cancel the extended warranty from the dealer. But if they don't what shall i do.

You might be up shit creek there, unless the warranty and your local laws allow otherwise. You already paid them and assuming you used financing, I doubt they'll be real accommodating to refund anything. Never ever ever ever trust a finance guy at any dealership they are literarily the scum of the earth, they are the ones that pull in the big bucks for a dealership. Check what it says in your warranty paperwork to see if there is a grace period, if it says say 20 or 30 days after purchase be prepared to fight the dealer to get your money back and call Toyota corporate if you hit a wall with the dealer becoming un-responsive. They will try and delay delay delay.

I recently had to cancel a pre-paid maintenance plan that I purchased with my truck. The finance guy said it would work at "any" Toyota dealership and would add to the existing 2 year plan, for a total of 7 years. Since I typically use the dealership for oil changes if a vehicle is under warranty, I went ahead with it. After reviewing the actual paperwork in detail, I found that the plan only worked at the dealership that I purchased from and one other one 200 miles away. Not only that, but the paperwork also stated that the plan was effective the day of purchase, which meant it actually overlapped the factory 2 year plan. The finance guy wasn't too happy when I called but didn't give me any push back once I came in to do the cancelation. Once the cancelation went through, the refund was sent to TFS. I then had to call TFS to get the refund reapplied as a principle only payment since it had been applied to the monthly payment. The lady that I talked to at TFS was super helpful and the call only took 3 minutes.

As far as extended warranties go, I have not purchased one yet, but I had one quoted through FD Warranty (found through this thread) and they were $2000 cheaper than what the finance guy was quoting.

If u get ahold of Jerry, he’ll tell u how to do it. He’s a great guy to deal with…I bought the 10yr/100,000 mile warranty thru him for a little over $1500.

Purchased my warranty from Jerry back in December. He contacted me the same day I emailed him and was extremely awesome. Got my warranty booklet from Toyota about three weeks later, just like Jerry said I would. I drive a lot, so went with the 4 year 125,000 miles and it cost me $850. Can't beat that deal. I put about 35,000 miles a year on the truck, so this made the most sense.

My dad did have a harder time reaching Jerry on his Lexus, but Jerry did get back to him about two weeks later. He seems real busy right now.

I'll probably end up purchasing another warranty for my wife's Lexus once she gets closer to the expiration date.

    Thanks for the list!

I got my Toyota extended warranty from Jerry Johnson. He responded with pricing via email in one day with a request form and responded the next day after i returned the form. His prices are the same as above with the same link to toyotafinancial official VSA page. He also offers Toyota care plus maintenance plans if interested. And yeah, he is super busy as someone else said.

I also inquired with FD warranty who never responded to me (yes, I checked my spam folder).

Glad we have some better choices than local dealer finance guy.

I wasn't able to submit an inquiry with their standard form because it kept giving me an error, so I just went to the contact us section and put my info in there and they got back to me looks like in about 2 hours but didn't' find it for a couple days.

Do yall buy the extended warranty just before the 3 year/36000 mark or right away? Does it make a difference in price?

I didn't ask if the price for the Tundra warranty was different if I waited. It's more peace of mind for me to do it now, rather than wait and possibly forget or miss due to other circumstances. I generally don't buy extended warranty or service agreements. However, on my 2022 Acura MDX Type S, within the first 6 months I purchased both Acura Care extended warranty and service agreements through a discount provider due to its limited production and specialized features (air ride suspension and twin stage turbo) and my desire to keep it long term. The prorated refund of the agreements more than paid for the extended warranty on my Tundra. And since my 2024 Tundra had a rear differential carrier failure within the first 2 months (1,100) miles, I feel more comfortable having the extended warranty.

Do it now as prices change and move, usually UP. Just buy it and be done with it.

I spoke with Jerry yesterday and asked the same question...how many miles can I drive and price quotes still be good? He said "until Toyota decides to change the pricing." Never know when and there is no advance notice.

I’m new so entitled to a couple of stupid questions so here goes #1…if the truck comes with a 3/36 and something goes wrong you have 0 outlay. If you layer the extended warranty on top of that what benefit is it in the first 3 years? Stupid question #2…if you purchase the 10yr100 starting in year 4 is that from that point forward or the time reverts back to original purchase date of tundra?

The extended warranty commences from the day the truck was placed into service.

Thank you that’s very helpful. I have a feeling the answer to #1 is no real benefit other than paying current pricing.

It's my understanding that the warranty (for new trucks) starts by model year. Say you have a 2024 and wait until 2027 to buy the 10yr/125k warranty .... it would still only go through year 2034 not 37?!

Dumb question, but when you purchase the warranty, does it automatically show up when a dealer is looking at your truck (online database?)? Or do you have to carry a booklet with you for proof of warranty?

So why lock your $ up in an extended warranty in first 3 years?

I think most folks choose to buy now because they're fairly certain the price will increase in the future.
