I'm fixing to tackle wrapping my bumper ends, grille, and bulge and was looking for some good advice, tips, or helpful links before I dove in!

Are you wanting to black out your chrome? I used plasti dip on my side 5.7 emblems and turn out really good. Not sure on big parts of chrome though. It took me about 3 coats.20170908_202928.jpg

I would definitely do the plasti dip about 6 it 7 coats on those chrome pieces. The curves on the grill are gonna be a beootch. Also rock chips and road dirt are gonna break/split the vinyl and the chrome will show through. Did mirror caps on a 5 series and looked like doo after 6 months. The dip is super easy, just watch a couple videos on how to lay down a smooth texture. Apply heavy wet coats. I went light and got a slightly textured look similar to bed liner spray, which is also another good option. Plasti dip touch up pretty easy if you need it down the road. Here's a pic of my grill and end caps. 20170730_115956-1.jpg

i've been mulling over painting or wrapping my bumper ends - i picked up some vinyl the other day and figured i'd start easy & wrap the mirror caps... It was a really good idea, even though i do say so myself. Smaller area and easier curves was a good training exercise to learn how the film behaves under heat & so on.

Ran out of time this weekend to take on the bumper ends but i'll give that a shot next weekend - I'm feeling more confident now i've tried something smaller & easier. FWIW, it took me longer to get the caps off than it did to wrap them.

I used 3m vinyl from Amazon and was amazed what it can do with careful application of heat and stretching...

    Good luck!

I'm getting mine rewrapped today, basically the leading edge of the hood and fender flares, grille surround, headlights. The first guy that did it over the weekend was longer on sincerity than skill, so his effort will be thrown in a garbage can, and a real tint shop will be taking care of business.

We wrapped my entire wife's car, no issues with rock chips, scratches etc...and her car sits low to the ground. It's wrapped with 3M. But to answer the OP question, no, didn't attempt to do it ourselves.

For $3.5K she would have gotten it Plasti-dipped ( or been out there herself with a hair dryer):bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:
