I still have my TRD skid plate installed. The only thing removed from my truck was the lower air spoiler and it's motor. Everything else from factory remained on the truck, including my Diode Dynamics fog lights that I specifically told them not to touch. The fog lights are the only reason they would need to remove the grill, but actually they can be installed without removing the grill. It seems that when getting this lift installed, it would be prudent to inform the dealership or shop that you want to retain the fog lights and skid plate, and anything else they are to ask beforehand. Just my thoughts to cover your butt and truck too.

Copy. I told them not to disconnect the fog lights. I was advised they don't anyhow. They don't use the lower sway bar brackets and have had no issues. Thus allowing the skid plate to be installed with no modifications. I have the cheap skid plate. Looking at aftermarket options.

So here are some pictures of my current skid plate with the sway bar drop and lift. To be honest, I didn't expect to see the sway bar like this versus behind the plate.

I used spacers and fits over swaybar and looks great. Also evidently talon garage sells some now that fit.

On Facebook, Westcott Designs said you can actually not use the swaybar drops and keep the stock ones. You can also put 35s on without rubbing the sway bar by keeping the oem.

Does the sway bar affect the alignment of its moved back to oem position?

I didn't look at after pics and that was stupid of me for sure. I want to retain the skid plate and swaybar, so I'll have to make some adjustments for sure. The link you provided was very informative on that issue, thank you.

Wescot is different than the trd lift. Trd lift actually gives more travel than any other 3in lift on market. You actually have to use the sway bar drop for trd lift. Wescot is just a caller lift it just compresses springs for lift.

I used spacers and it looks good. Still waiting for an after market to come out. I may start welding and extra angle piece on front of trd plate to compensate for the gap in front though.

My 2024 platinum with 3” trd lift kit from factory had fogs missing and dealership thought it maybe a miss build lol. Then later after digging found out all the ones with the lift installed at the factory have the blanks in place of the fog lights (someone on another thread said it’s in step9 or 15 maybe to remove them, if doing it outside factory). DOT compliance issue as others stated above, however the wiring harness and switch on the stalk remain, so just pop off front and put in factory ones or like me after market diode dynamics plug and play kit. Works great I also did the pro grill and marker lights, and heretic light bar kit all at one time since had to take the front off.

there is a YouTube video found after buying the trd skid plate, so I ordered a drop kit for it, but the video the cut just cuts his to prevent contact with sway bar. The drop of sway bar sucks most of all and causes slight touch / rub at full lock when you put on 35’s on +25 offset, 0 offset rubbed on front fender liner and rear as well, but +25 for some reason only barely touches/ rubs at full lock on the frame triangle for safety.

    Stock with blanks:

after with DD pnp kit s6’s

havent installed trd skid plate yet haven’t decided if want to mod like video or use the drop kit I got off Amazon?

Are you saying you rubbed the sway bar with 35X12.5s on +25 wheel with the factory TRD lift?

I think our regular front skid plate will clear this small of a lift. I would need to do some measurements, but just putting it out there.

I know our TRD pro lift plate will fit it.

Does the factory lift come with auto leveling headlights or is not installed, the dealer installed lift tells them to disconnect and remove linkage?

How does the factory lift ride and work off-road? Does anyone recommend it over westcott design? Wondering if I get the factory lift or aftermarket?

I've had the Westcott lift and TRD Lift on the same truck. It's night and day. Westcott lift is terrible - get a kidney belt and call your dentist. Don't believe me? Come take me Westcott lift, it's yours. Free.

The TRD lift is balanced and stable. Drives, turns, and handles like the original truck.

Had the TRD lift kit installed a couple weeks ago from a dealership in town. I was thinking about installing airbags in the rear for when I'm towing. From what I read, airlift 5000 is the way to go but will this work with the 2" rear lift? If not does anyone know something that will?

Any pics of the skid plates after use?

How are they holding up going over a rock and getting scratched and dented? Can they take it or require replacement after 1 outing?

I'm very interested in how that sway bar below the skid plate does.

A lot of it depends how you wheel. We beat on our bronco test rig pretty hard and the plates hold up for multiple trips. They will get scratched from going over rocks, and if you slam the weight of the truck down on them they are going to bend and dent. Are you looking to rock bounce your trusts, or are you more careful with your lines?

Here is a video of our bronco with 1/4” aluminum skids. I was really expecting the skids to be bent after this landing, but didn’t find any significant damage. I think I hit the rock sliders more. I got lucky. Keep in mind a tundra is a lot heavier then the Bronco, and we have a lot more reinforcement in our bronco skids as the average person tends to wheel those a bit harder.

Maybe I need to do a 3/16” steel group buy. :p

That sway bar under the skid plate is just looking to get ripped off. I wonder if it has been tested and held up well.

Your video answers many of my questions except how it does with a 1/2 ton Tundra doing that.

Yes, it rubs sway bar at full lock both sides just barely, the frame horn I call it safety triangle sticking out rubs worse on drivers side than it does passenger side, just at full lock or say 95% to full lock. If that makes sense.

I was looking today since I just got my 2024 Limited OR with Factory 3” lift and wanted to know where the wires were at for the fog lights? I looked under and didn’t see where they would be but the stock has the switch for them and it turns on when I twist it.
