good to know, about to do a drain and fill a couple times then replace the filter so this is important info, thank you... I'd be nervous of that bolt leaking and you not knowing and toasting the trans, wouldn't let that out of our shop- what about siphoning out the fluid from the check plug and then pulling the pan to try and remove the bolt/repair it?

I don't love it either but it was snugged up pretty good and then i locked it in with a layer of JB weld. Not my proudest moment but there was no way I was pulling the pan on a Sunday at 5pm. I let it sit overnight and not a single drop, then put over 100 miles on it yesterday. I will check it daily for at least a week but I a pretty confident it's not going anywhere.

Did a full write up here (including my jb weld fix) https://www.tundras.com/threads/2nd-gen-transmission-drain-and-fill-diy-how-to.137487/

I'm not sure the fluid swap completely. About once a month I'll get a (seemingly random set of codes popping up). If they ever get more frequent my mechanic said it'll be time to replace solinoids. At that point I'll swap in a new pan as well.

yep, im about to drain mine and send it off to blackstone to check for coolant in it, I swapped a torque converter in my transmission a little over 2 years ago, and the one I put in is already bad, so I'm thinking there might be a little coolant in my transmission fluid which caused the new tc to fail prematurely, but we'll see

Yes- they are pretty firm. I didn’t think about putting them in vice to see if I could smash them until I had them put on

Swapped out all the interior lights for LEDs and wrapped some 550 cord to the front handles so they wouldn't get so visibly dirty so quickly. I'll have to do the rears at some point soon20240207_171654.jpg

I replaced the rear view camera in my tailgate today. It was a very simple and quick process. It took longer to get the panel off the tailgate than to change the camera. My camera had lost its weatherproof qualities and was very hazy and sometimes I couldn't see anything from it. Popped out the old one, attached the new one and it is GTG.

Ordered it from Ebay if anyone else needs the part. Here is the link to the part should you need it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/386405134739

just purchased a used climate control module to finish my blackout of the dash. More photos to come once install is complete. I owe you @Shanet421 for the idea of finishing out my blackout knobs and keeping it looking stock. Before you learned me, I was leaning towards ajt knobs. IMO This is a cleaner look and deletes the gray ring around the fan switch dial. Next up is black the 4x4 knob

Rotated the tires and installed new front sway bar end links and a TRD front sway bar to go with the rear one.
Holy shit that thing was heavy. But now my truck handles like a car!

Driving home yesterday, My truck sounded different, rolled my window down and sure enough I could hear metal hitting the road. Pulled over in a side steer to check it out. One of my tail pipe was disconnected and hitting the pavement. Duct taped it up to the other pipe and went home and fixed it with JB weld.

JB Weld is some great stuff. I have used it to fix many, many things over the years.

You may want to have a muffler shop put a real fix on that. It could become a road hazard to you and others if the jb weld lets go at the wrong time.

Like-new stock exhausts that people take off can be had online for cheap if you are looking for a budget fix.

@dirtydeeds is running a sale on their muffler systems, best on the market for tundras, now would be a good time to upgrade from that rusty exhaust

On Saturday I installed the Me So Customs dome and map lights. Fast arrival and packaged very nicely. The install was fast and easy. It took about 30 minutes or so and that's because we decided that for some reason it made sense to wait until after dark to get going. Having watched the installs here on the forum I was curious about the red light option and I have to admit, its really cool. Seems to be easier on the eyes yet you can still see everything clearly. My son tells me his PD puts red dome lights in their cars for this very reason. Anyway, the equipment looks great and seems to be of great quality so I don't anticipate any more changes. However they are definitely bright on either setting so if you are considering the switch be ready.

Red light affects night vision the least, so that makes sense what the PD is doing.

I ordered a C4 front bumper early Jan, which is expected to arrive by the end of the month... hopefully. In the meantime, I found a rear bumper from DV8 Off Road which should pair well (looks-wise) with the C4.
Really surprised how well it was packaged! Unfortunately, FedEx still managed to mangle several layers of foam and chip the powder coat on one corner. Other than that, fit and finish are surprisingly good. The footwells on each end fit a dirt bike boot quite nicely and firmly supports this 240lb gorilla, haha. I'll eventually replace the floodlights that came with it, with something nicer.

I finally tied my clarion 12” sub into my factory jbl via lc2 pro converter:amen:. Can’t believe I took so long to do this (I built the size spec’d sealed box about 3 years ago haha). I bought some jbl 2-way 6.5s on sale today too. Will be putting those in the doors tomorrow. I can’t believe it took me for sure like 15 years since I’ve last had bass. Never again. I feel like I have opened Pandora’s box here :spending:
