I am underneath the truck trying to get this connector disconnected. It’s awkward spot and I I have never seen a connector like this as it looks like a locking mechanism but I don’t want to break it trying to pull harness out. Is there a locking mechanism on this connector like most sealed junctions. How does this one open.
Please help before I try to open to test resistance of solenoids.

Looks like a sorta cam lock to me.

like these ears will ride in the tracts of the latch.

so you'd rotate the little handle out, then it should unplug.

If you push the release tab at red arrow toward pins, will it not pull out ?

Yes I got it released when you pull white tab down the connector slides up out of housing good idea for connector. Do you know the pin outs for this connector. Layout my service manual inhave what pins to check but not the connector layout. I can’t find that connector. I think I can check at E6 at ecm as well.

That connector is a 1 hand job. Swing the cam lever and it unplugs the connector for you. I wish they all were like that.

Iremoved connector found pins 8 & 6 broke off inside harness it
Looks like. Hard to see in tranny connector. Needed a mirror and hard to get pic. Put
Connector back as I could not get pins out. P0986 is cleared but now I suspected broken pin 6 is pressure solenoid p2716 which has come in. I suspected both these might have been corroded. My next questions is the housing connector on the tranny is that a replaceable part. If I can’t get pins out of the harness then i would need a new harness as well or section. Not what I was expecting to find or happen. Pins 8!maybe making contact but may not last. I’m gonna take it for a drive to see how it shifts.

The pressure solenoid i suspect it when your transmission is loaded for hauling.

Hey bud did you find a solution to your problem! I'm going to dig into mine tomorrow. I got code p2716 as well and I'm wondering if it's the connector

Ok I thought I would post again for the record even though I haven't gotten a reply. My truck is completely rust free, but I found a good amount of corrosion in the connector. The pin that leads to the line pressure solenoid was broken off in the female end. I'm sure this is what's causing the P2716 code. I went ahead and ordered a new internal harness from Toyota, as well as the solenoid just in case ($200 ouch) pan gasket 4 qts Toyota ATF WS and filter. I'm going to be putting silicone on top of the connector so water doesn't get back down into the pins. There is no where for it to go once it's makes it into the connector so it just sits on the pins and eats it away. Not a good design

Thanks for the update despite lack of reply. Do yourself a favor. Skip the silicone. Liberally brush dielectric grease into both sides of the connector. Same stuff many of us use on our battery terminals. It will waterproof without loss of conductivity.

Is this connector design 05-06 only?

Thanks shifty. I should probably have explained better. I am going to put dielectric between the connectors. But the backside of the female end where the wires enter is where water was allowed to enter. I think the wire seals may have shrunk over time or werent tight to begin with. That is where i was planning on putting the silicone

From my understanding 00-04 do not have the connector

Ok I just wanted to say for the record that my problem was solved by replacing the Internal harness which had one pin corroded and broken off into the female end. I replaced the solenoid for good measure (200 bucks ouch) The truck shifts better than before which is probably due to the new fluid. Thanks guys for your guidance
