Yeah, obviously we have to take into account clown world issues. But regardless, Toyota isn't here for us, the customers, if they where they wouldn't be breaking records of profits. Like I mentioned before, Lexus is getting heat because of the crap they did to the GX and still price it at a premium. But as the saying goes " A fool and money are soon parted". And you might be correct, as the site I used was a .gov. Most likely clown world stats.

I would hope the 3rd gen is better at towing than the previous gen, if not oh boy this forum would be worse than what it is. I sometimes have my own reservations on the 3rd gen, because of it's price and what you get. I know the shit show that's going on now with inflation plays it's part, though. But I just don't see the value for me, considering I have a 2020 with 37k miles. If I had a 2016 like you then obviously I would want to move on to greener pastures. Good thing about opinions is, their like assholes, everybody has one. :argue::cheers:

I never think any business is anything but a business trying to make money. I don't take issue with it, though. Trying to make profit as long as you're not being dirty is fine. I also don't put a lot of stock in the complaints of all the shitty customers who are trying to demonize a successful company by being karens.

Prime example, 3rd gen Tacoma transmission. All the hand wringing, wailing, and horror about it is pure whining. I bought one and it's mildly annoying to start with but it does, in fact, learn and resolve the issue in time. Heaven forbid the entitled "customers" have to actually read a manual and follow basic instructions. They bitch because they want something for free.

Who is worse? The ones who wants to make money for work they do, or the ones that want what that work produces for nothing?

I agree with the first post but it’s Toyota’s way to keep the Tacoma in the top spot. Tundra will always be a distant 4th in the full size segment.

that doesn't really bother me at all, any of us can go buy a f-150. It's nice to not see 300 of the same truck driving around every time you go anywhere since everyone and their brother drives the same f-150.

its always been nice with all 5 tundras I have had in that regard.

Your right, I guess. I guess it's a double edged sword. A company making money regardless of product cost or quality is going to continue to make it. That's where the quote, a fool and his money comes to mind. But what I don't agree with is less for more, at least that's the way I see it, regardless of tech or tooling or anything. As for your last statement, same thing, I am willing to pay for a good product and don't expect anything for free, but to a certain extent.

I had a 2017 taco for 2 1/2 lease. It was not a bad little truck. I really couldn't compared it to the previous gen since I never had one but I thought it was fine. So no comment on the taco crew bitching.

Do you really think any company anywhere is here for their customers? Companies exist to create value for their shareholders. Nothing else.

Dude. Go over to the 4th gen section of Tacoma World and check out the epic pissing and moaning contests about how all of this stuff is crap and they want a 1991 Taco clone with manual steering, 4 wheel drum brakes, a crank handle starter, and AM radio as opposed to "all of this tech bullshit".

They are saying how CHEVY got it right and Toyota lost the way! I poke fun at them over there for their whining, but it's pretty much non stop bitch fest about STUFF LIKE THE LIST I QUOTED ABOVE!

There was a dude complaining that they got rid of the rear drum brakes! I've been a Taco owner since 2014 and the #1 complaint s about gen 3 when it came out was the anemic engine and those drum brakes. For nearly a decade!

Seriously, can't anyone just enjoy their truck? SMH.

They say that because of the price. If the truck was only $20K "like grandpa could buy" then they wouldn't complain about the features. It's an overly simplistic view that makes them gripe about the features, and then it is justified with examples through the auto industry of the newest latest greatest stuff breaking all the time. Something that Toyota was previously less known for, but the rocky launch of the Gen 3 Tundra does lend credence to those fears more than normal. Even with the rocky start, I'd buy a Tundra before any other 1/2 ton on offer.

The complaint about no discs in the rear was kinda silly. Rears don't die as quick as the front, so leaving them drums didn't do anything but keep cost down. They work fine and last for ages. The fronts being disc is helpful for DIY maintenance, but rears don't really have to have it. The guy complaining they went disc was likely being sarcastic.

As for the anemic engine, it isn't. It revs high for the power, but the power is there. It doesn't struggle to move the truck. Most of those complaints were related to the transmission because it would try to keep a fuel efficient gear even when you were mashing it and it didn't keep it in the power band. Again, that is something the transmission learns, and after a year it's not really an issue.

People like to complain. Makes them feel important when they get likes for it. So they do it more and more. I love my truck, and it's the "anemic" 3rd gen Taco with the "terrible" transmission. Absolutely love it.

Good! Nobody says you can't enjoy being a beta tester for the Tacoma!:D:boink:

I'm sure I'd enjoy one as well, but I also wouldn't have moved out of my 2.5 gen for one. No point for my lifestyle, as clearly shown by the fact that I downsized to a Tacoma.

It also wasn't a Tundra or a Tacoma. I was born in '84 and I'm old enough to be a grandpa, so you're price isn't included in the scheme. It does illustrate the point though. As the years go on and new rigs come out, the price jumps.
