Oh I thought it was a good review as well. I really need to go test drive a new tundra. I was at the Toyota dealership getting some parts for my kids Corolla and seen a Capstone on the floor. 80k.

Tim! I enjoy your videos. Welcome to the forum. I love my truck, but the payload is starting to be a concern.

I agree with your criticisms (at least, I remember agreeing; it has been a while) of the 3rd gen Tundra. A lot of us 2nd gen guys on the forum are salty that Toyota barely moved the needle on the payload. Why couldn't Toyota at least give us a high payload package since they still refuse to enter the HD world? Forcing those of us who want to tow with our families in the truck to go domestic. But I digress...:frusty:

Huh? There's a NAME for it? I just thought it was how the game was supposed to be played and everybody else just played sissy golf... I mean, you hand me a CLUB to SMASH a ball around the back yard, then challenge me to park it in a hole in the ground while my buddies stand around a heckle me, all while being in the crossfire of other people swinging clubs and smashing balls - what else is supposed to happen? I may need to reassess my life a little. :monocle:

    Fuck I’m getting old.

There’s too many words in this thread for me to read tonight. And it’s too late for me to bother finding my headphones to let AI read it to me.

I haven’t watched any of your stuff…really haven’t watched anybody’s stuff. If I google a specific question and you have a YT video that specifically answers it in 30 seconds or less, there’s still a 95% chance I’ll keep scrolling until a find a written answer. That’s just me. I’m not your audience.

but welcome New Guy! Stick around. Poke some fun and take getting poked back in stride (unless it’s @Fotnot poking - you might end up pregnant). Don’t let the Gen3 guys get too sensitive on you. Don’t let the Gen1 guys scare you off. And don’t mind if @Azblue asks for pictures of your neighbors…or your wife. He’s harmless for the most part.

The Capstones are a huge WTF in my opinion. The ugliest trim level, at the highest price. Still not sure who they’re marketing those to.
I like my Gen 3. After 15 months of ownership I don’t have any real complaints and no problems. All three gens I own have their pros and cons compared to the others but they’re all pretty cool.

The Gen 3 Sequoia can fuck off though.

Absolutely agree. No idea who the capstone is marketed for. Some people like them and people buy.

Now that the engine bearing issue has been found and resolved, these trucks should be solid performers.

What's wrong with the 3rd Gen Sequoias?

It just rides rough as hell. I believe it’s mainly because of the battery location. The battery on my Tundra is in the middle of the truck. It’s right on top of the rear axle on the Sequoia.
The previous Sequoias rode very smoothly. On this one you can feel every pebble on the road. It looks cool and all the interior upgrades (which is what my wife was most looking forward to) are great, but it’s just not enjoyable to drive.
The kids say riding in the third row is miserable compared to the others. Once again due to the battery. They no longer have a full floorboard and the rough ride is magnified back there.
Gas mileage is slightly better, but they made the gas tank smaller so she has to fill up even more frequently than she did with the gas guzzling 5.7s.
It’s way faster and has a nicer head unit than the other ones though. :notsure:

Wow. Had no idea. Guess I should warn my buddy this weekend at the SB party. He is planning on surprising his wife with one soon.

It’s definitely something he needs to be aware of. At the very least he needs to give it a good test drive. My wife was so excited she didn’t even leave the parking lot with it first.

Not that it would have changed her mind at the time though. After driving Sequoias for 12 years with no updates she was dying for the new model.

    Sorry for the late reply.

    YouTube = Journalism

Who says I wasn't a journalist before YouTube? Also, YouTube is a new media outlet for thousands of us. Nobody reads anymore, they want to watch. Journalists, like myself, have to adapt or die.

Interesting. Putting a bunch of weight in the bed (i.e., right over the rear axle) of a Tundra makes it ride smoother.

Maybe the 3rd gen’s solid rear axle and shorter wheelbase is part of it? I can see how a live rear axle would contribute to more of a truck-like ride compared to the previous IRS. Our kids can get air in the 3rd row of the 570 if I don’t slow down for speed bumps in our neighborhood. They love it though…

Lastly, is it riding on 20s? Maybe going to 18s with some more sidewall would help.
