Look at the features that people said were lacking on the Tundra. Look how many of those features are in the Taco a couple years later.

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
Bigger market for the taco. Don't get me wrong, I'm big mad at the thought they put into the tacoma but if you put me in the back seat of one I'll be bigger mad.

Tailgate button in each tail light, front tow hooks, optional manual transmission, optional leaf spring or linked suspension, off road seats, multiple trims with aftermarket features, power open AND close tailgate with a switch in the cab as well. Those are just the ones I know. I'm sure there are others.

pretty annoying, and be honest, dont say Toyota didnt know the userbase wanted these features

they just cut so many corners on the tundra, its like they developed this truck in a pandemic and started assembling and shipping units - in the pandemic

my family has owned 20+ yotas, this will be my last yota truck, the interior is so cheaply made, ppl will not believe this especially if they are coming from another yota truck, for instance go ahead and peel back your window door seals - mine has little to no adhesive on it and will not stay in place with the lightest touch (troubleshooting door/window noise) - vs all the other toyotas i owned, this is very poorly put together vehicle, and I have had toyota's dating back to the 80s

definitely the worst, and i had like a less then $3-4k 1986 tercel, no power anything, yet the door locks actually have detents that stop the switch from moving excessively, not like the door locks on these 50k+ tundra yotas

My dad's 1989 SR5 extra cab with the sport package was built to a higher standard than the Tacoma or Tundra ever was. Felt substantial all stainless trim and quality materials...but the driving experience? not so much

    Full time 4wd.
Good Bed Auxiliary Power. i-FORCE MAX grades come standard with a 2400W AC inverter.
Smarter Engineering - i.e. they moved the Tacoma front stabilizer bar back a touch to not affect the articulation of the front suspension for offroad.
3rd Gen Tundra's Achilles heel outside of the worst turning radius in the segment is the lack of articulation and the low hanging fruit (trailing arms) low clearance.

    Gives new meaning to OUTLAST.

It is a wear proof plastic. Look at all that soft touch plastic in 20 y.o. BMW or Volvo... 20 y.o. Toyota hard plastic looks miles better. It least it is not sticky.

I was on a mission to trade in my 2020 for a Lexus GX 460. On that mission, I looked at some videos and comments on various sites about the new 24 GX 550 coming soon. A lot of people are displeased with what Lexus did, or better yet, didnt do to the new GX. Seems like a common thing going on across the whole or mostly all the models. Seems Toyota/Lexus have jumped on the greed bandwagon and it's trying to squeeze as much profits as possible.
It's funny to me that the SR5 Tundra lost power seats and the Tacoma finally got it. Let's rob Peter to pay Paul.

    The ladies did.
I can say of the new Tundras I have seen on the road, at least or more than half are ladies behind the wheel. (or maybe some guys with pony tails - some of the angles were bad)
It was a rare sight to see a lady behind a 2.5 gen or earlier.

Funny thing you say that. How many people made fun of the Ridgeline tailgate? Now, almost decades later someone copied them. I guess it wasnt a gimmick or a bad design after all.

Yes, because you got an added package. Can't even get PS on a base SR5 which was standard on the previous gen.

Packaging decisions are not design or engineering decisions. They are more price building.

That said Toyotas trims and packaging are not very consistent across models anymore to say the least. Some of it comes from SR5 bring a truck/SUV trim inserted into the trim ladder. But if you look at different models it seems random

Toyota should just quit the half assed full-size truck bullshit and stick to the mid sized SUVs and the Tacoma.

Not tundra related, but to add to that is what some people are baffled about he new GX and the KDSS suspension and how Lexus did some random, you get this on this model and not on this one but yes to this one even though the previous gen had it across the board. It's almost like they throw some shit out and see what sticks to what.

To an extent. Besides the GX's I was looking at, I also ventured over to the 3rd gen Sequoia. Wouldn't mind getting one, but Toyota is on crack with the starting price of like $62k for a base SR5. Now once I sell my boat, I will agree with you. For now I need a full-size.

I'd prefer manual seats. The power seat in my truck hasn't been anything but a pain in the ass.

I was checking out the new Tundras at a dealership yesterday while waiting for my vehicle to have an issue diagnosed.
I got the impression that they're just a slightly larger Tacoma, designed by kids with man buns that designed them entirely on a computer, while drinking a Starbucks.

yeah, not like the previous Tundra that was designed in 1947 in a warehouse full of engineers on drafting tables with pencils and paper smoking cigarettes like god intended!

I'd prefer my 1st gen Taco over any newer gen Taco anyday :D

    IMG_20210909_180621.jpg

IMO, having too many features that consist of electronics can be somewhat problematic. I'm happy with the basic features that my Taco has.
