When traveling or towing I like to have more engine and transmission information than the analog dashboard provides. Using the free iPhone App, Car Scanner, and a Wifi OBDII dongle I am displaying the extra info in a custom dashboard I built in the App. The 9.7" screen iPad fits perfectly into the front cubby in the console or it slides snuggly above the sliding access door in the console lid. (My iPad has a silicone cover which makes it fit snug and not rattle or move) Power can be plugged in at either position. Im still adjusting min/max gauge values and redlines so pay no attention to those. So far Im displaying engine oil pressure and temp, transmission temp and gear position, coolant temp, and turbo boost pressure.

Great setup you built. So a question. I installed the Car Scanner app version and build 1.103.3 on my iOS v 17.2.1 iPhone. The Tundra model ( mine is the 2022 ) does not show up in the Toyota vehicle connection profile list. Which is the best profile choice, ie the one you are using?
    Thanks

Thats a slick setup, thanks for sharing. Still would like to have the app and gauges be accessible on apple car play somehow. Save a screen. But thats a good fit for now.

Absolutely agree. Keep hoping for a good hack to put the whole screen up there. Something better than a $150 adapter.
