    Hey guys,

Hoping this is the right place to post this. If not, just let me know and I can repost in another area.

My front grill camera got cracked and our friends at the Dealership and Toyota told me that I am f'd and have to spend money to replace it. Warranty doesn't cover it, even though it happened during the recent freeze here in Texas (act of nature).

I was looking at the part and the dealership wants $1013, which isn't going to happen. I can find it online from other dealerships for as long as $688. So here's my question.

The part is 86790-0C210, which says it fits my truck and that is the part that the dealership also provided to me.

But there is another part that says it always fits and looks to be exactly the same: 86790-0C220, which is around $400 cheaper.

Does anyone know anything about these parts and if the cheaper one will actually work?

    Truck: 2023 Tundra Platinum Non-Hybrid.

Can’t speak to the camera functionality but I know I have 210 and 230 and the brackets are different.

I got these from ebay so you may want to check there for cheaper options. I don’t “need” the 210 if actually different though so just lmk if you want to work something out.

Looking at the diagram pictures, they look the same. But diagrams can be misleading. I cannot find a real picture, like how you just gave for the 0c210 camera.

I have the same problem and recently purchased the 0c210 camera. Did this one work for you and did you find any instruction on the best way to change it out?

I haven't changed it yet, as it's a bit complex.

My understanding is that the entire grill area needs to come off.. I'm gonna try to do it this week, but getting time is the hard part.

So the cameras can’t handle freezing weather?

That was my argument with Toyota. They told me that a rock flew up and only hit the camera. It didn't damage/scratch anything else. Weird that it happened while truck was parked in my driveway, while the freezing cold came through.

Btw. To me, freezing cold is anything below 70 :). But in this case, it was down to 28.

Same thing with my camera. No explanation just the lens cover shattered. I replaced it this morning. Thankfully I did not have to remove the entire front grille. On the inside there is a plastic shield attached to the grille. There are three bolts attaching the shield to the grille. I removed those and was able to push the shield back enough to slip my arm down to unscrew the camera bracket. On each side of the shield there are two plastic pieces that prevent it from moving back. If you reach down and push them to the side the shield will slip past without any issue. However, you need something to hold the shield back away from the grille so you can work. I used some zip ties on each side of the grill to hold it back away from the grille while I slipped my arm in to unscrew the two camera bracket screws. I left the old camera plugged in until I pulled it out because it will be difficult to retrieve anything that falls down. I matched the orientation and plugged the new camera and bracket in, screwed it back and works great. Took about 15-20 minutes. you will need a small philips screwdriver. I had a flat ratcheting type tha allowed you to get into tight spaces but a small palm type driver should work also.
