I had heard of that issue before and that's why I didn't get the wifi option. Doesn't sound like you can get the router any closer than you have it..

    Well f*(k!
Luckily nothing major though. I replaced a leaky bathroom faucet. It all went well. But when I went to shut off the water, the 1/4 turn valve handles broke. Luckily I can turn them off with a pair of needle nose since it has 2 flat sides. They've been there since built 8 years ago and I've never turned them off. I prob should do that will all in the house honestly.
Now I'm debating whether I try to replace the handle, the whole valve, or so screw it and just do it when I need to with a pair of needle nose.

I'd slap a new handle on it. Only because if you have a problem a lot of water can come out by the time you get some pliers.

I'm gonna have to see if I can find one.
Otherwise, that sounds like a problem for future Fotnot

Putting a wifi adaptor on a power generator has to be just a sales thing, the em interference that the generator would put off would be a night mare. You'd have better luck with a POTS line going to it and dial into it like old school.

After some priority interrupts (attic ladder, dishwasher) and cold temps, was warm enough today to work on the planter. Finished first run, started second run. It should be fine for it's purpose, but those of you who know how to do masonry, feel free to shake your head... PXL_20240128_203134815.jpg

After only 6 months since our major kitchen remodel, and a couple of "discussions", me and the Mrs. finally came to a consensuses on the shelf layout for the pantry.

I happily got busy and knocked it out so I could scratch one more thing from my "to do" list. She still has to do her organizing thing in there (probably another "discussion") but my part is, thankfully, DONE!

    Here's a few.

The Mrs thought she wanted a smaller upright freezer in there so, that's why the shelves are short. No freezer so I was able to squeeze 24' of additional shelving in there with this last push.

Eyeballed ~6" out of level across my shed footprint. Then laid out the base size and actually measured, more like 12" out of level.... so I got to work digging to lay 2 courses of 4x6. Not pictured, I was able to get the 4th side roughed in and all the shorter extension pieces cut and notched to lap with the 12' timbers. I need the rain to stop so I can establish final level on a solid base, square it all up, and stake it down. Then comes the fun part of digging, leveling, and backfilling with gravel by hand. No truck access to the backyard :( too cheap to rent a powered solution. Great workout!

Finished replacing the old eroded copper pipes to pex. Only wish I would have gotten the red and blue pex for hot and cold. But something duck tape and a sharpie can't solve. Pretty easy with the sharkbites. Went very smooth when I had all the joints and tools. (5 trips to lowes later)

Oh I'm not doing that. Haha. It would be a nightmare. Using insurance. Once opened the ceiling so another water damaged spot that is pretty bad.

Coated the box beam mantle with some Rubio monocoat. Should look pretty good from 2ft away I’m thinking. Definitely better than the ugly white stone.

Installed kitchen cabinets for my cousin in exchange for a pizza. Cutting a scribed opening for the farmsink was a fun surprise.

And those columns are true 8”x8” solid white oak.

Love that green color! Looks great. What was the thought of adding the oak columns? Most people wanna get rid of stuff like that and it’s obvious they aren’t load bearing…just curious.

They are very much load bearing. The previous owners to this house removed 2 walls in this kitchen and added only 2 metal lally columns on one wall only, nothing weight bearing for the second wall. So lots of joist hangers, beam work and joists went in to allow 3 massive wood columns to support the second floor.

Ah gotcha. Thought temporary supports were missing in the pictures but now realized it was zoomed out far enough to see them was all.

It’s a 48” Thermador and it was broken when he bought it for $500. I also would have bought it at that price. Who knows if it will ever work.

Got sunny enough out over the weekend for me to finish leveling and squaring up the 4 sides, tear out all the sod, and fill with ~3 yards of fill by hand from a local free spot to get the low side back up to level. I did have to mix in a bunch of lime to attempt to quick dry it enough to hand tamp. Just awaiting crushed 3/4" clean stone to get delivered now. I'll give the dirt one last tamp with a plate compactor, lay out the landscape fabric, and get back to shoveling!
