Hello everyone I need some help, I am looking to purchase a black TRD Pro. I have been reading here and it seems everyone has very positive information.

First I am new to the truck market, I have always had sport cars currently have a 2012 370z. But my friend has a nice Ram that we use to tow my jet skies. My wife has a grand Cherokee 4X4 Laredo and we tow them with that but he was kind enough to use his truck.

I started to research and fell in love with the Tundra TRD PRO. I also lie the new upcoming Ram Rebel. It seems that those would be showing up soon with almost the same price tag.

My local Toyota Dealer has a TRD PRO in black but I have a few questions for anyone that can help me.

Can this truck be upgraded to include HID lights.
Does the truck have auto on off headlights

I really love this truck I will be going to see it today the one thing that I would really be doing almost immediately would be the tires by the looks of the pics the tires do not fit the truck in my opinion.

Any information pluses and negatives would be great.

    Thanks

lights - no, not factory. Aftermarket - yes.
Parking lights are always on, but there should also be a switch (at least there is in the Limited..not sure of the Pro's) for daytime running lights.

There are a couple of other factors to consider too over the Ram...
    resale value
reliability (proven over and over again)

We can go on and on about Tundras... =)

My truck did not come with auto headlights. This, I was kinda bummed about in the beginning but definitely over it now. Love my truck and wouldn't trade it for anything. Well maybe something. :anonymous:

I just saw the first five minutes and damn do I really want this truck. I will trade in my Z for this if I have to. The only thing is that the one that I am going to go see today is black not that awesome orange. But still like the black one a lot.

I will catch the rest when I get off work.

Headlights - Turn them on and leave them on if you want. They automatically shut of when you turn off the truck (after a short time) or lock the truck (right away). You never have to worry about leaving them on and running out the battery. They do not have the feature of automatically turning off when it is light outside.

That video that @matluth posted above definitely shows what the Tundra is capable of. The Pro is very nice stock but you can reach or exceed what the pro has to offer for about the same price by getting a SR5 or limited and upgrading suspension, wheels and tires. Don't think your limited to a Pro unless you want what it offers from the factory.

Inferno Red is the most popular color iit seems, white, then black. The fewer black versions they make, in theory , may make them worth more later. Some of the PRO owners here have used 3M adhesive clear coating to protect their paint, pricey, but maybe worth it in the long run.

I originally thought I wanted the Pro but ended up getting the Limited & did several upgrades from the dealer & after I got the truck. I don't regret it one bit & I don't think you would either if you went the SR5 or Limited route + upgrades/mods. Either way you can't go wrong, you're getting a Tundra!

There is always at least one on Ebay. You can go pick it up, or get it shipped to you for less than $1000.00..Worth every penny in my book!

I finished the video yesterday and it definately made my mind up. Never in my dreams would I think that this truck could do all that. So I went to the dealer yesterday but they had some bad news. Some scum salesman decided that no one was working on a deal with their only TRD Pro on the lot and sold the one that my salesman and I were working on. The good news is that my salesman said that they have two coming in and they are both orange. So my name is on one of them, if everything goes as planned I will be a proud owner of an awesome Tundra TRD Pro by the end of August.

Thank you guys for all the help the video was great and a big deciding factor.

Actually the "Inferno" color reminds me of a famous 32 Ford gasser from the mid 60's. I built a Revell model of it in 65 when I was 10.

I got to see that car in person when I was a kid at an Orange County car show at El Toro Marine Base in Tustin, California in 64. That's why it became the first Revell model car I ever did. California was way better in the 60's. Hot Rod Mania, the Beach Boys, Rat Fink, bikinis appeared, and the beginnings of the off road craze. Sadly, not even remotely the same now. Orange County actually had orange groves everywhere back then. Fighter jet/chopper bases long gone now too. Almost tempted to paint my truck that color. heh heh

When Pros were just coming out, a lot of people called the color 'burnt orange'. That's probably why some people still refer to it as 'orange'.

When I first saw inferno, burnt orange immediately came to mind.

I would saw it is more of a Burnt Orange than a red....parked next to my FJ40 which is like Fire Engine Red, it looks more orange.....don't like the color? Move it to a different type of lighting and it will change!
