Apologies for being delinquent on the forum. I haven't had the issue re-appear since the A/C amplifier was replaced under warranty but I've also been away a lot and haven't been able to test extensively at -20oC or colder. Hoping for colder weather before spring hits to be more confident the issue is fully resolved.

@Kung As for the turning everything off workaround, that's good to know but I prefer to have the HVAC system set where I want it for remote start warmup.

After not having much cold weather toward the end of winter last year, I wasn't able to thoroughly test out the dealer fix. Had a day a week ago around -12oC and the HVAC system had the same problem again; HVAC screen and fans wouldn't fire up upon startup.

Took it into the dealer today and since it was warm out they couldn't properly diagnose... and the video I took wasn't enough unfortunately. Now I'm hoping for cold weather before my warranty runs out at the end of the month.

Latest update in the journey to diagnose and rectify this issue… during the cold snap a few weeks back, local dealer was able to determine that a faulty servo in the HVAC box was triggering the AC Amplifier to error out preventing the HVAC display and heater fan from starting. Had the entire HVAC box replaced this week and now awaiting some colder temps to confirm the issue is fully resolved. Good on Toyota Canada to do this under warranty given the long paper trail originating within the warranty period.

Good to hear they actually cared to look and help, speaking of I see those same push button ON/OFF factory Canada Tundra heated seats, are yours any good?

Interesting; mine was also the faulty servo, but they didn't explain it like you did.

But yeah, unfortunately here in VA it doesn't get all that cold, so it doesn't do it that much.

I'm SURE they'll know EXACTLY what the issue is as soon as it's out of warranty, though. LOL

Odd question, @splitfuse - they have any idea why it ONLY happens during cold weather? Troubleshooting this issue is a royal beeyotch. LOL

Yeah, i don’t mind them. Button is in an awkward spot and they’re either on or off but they heat up well.

They never explain why at certain temps that servo malfunctioned. Just confirmed it was a servo and replaced the entire HVAC box. They didn’t even diagnose further to figure out which servo.

As for the warranty, if you have a solid paper trail on warranty for an intermittent issue and they’re able to diagnose the problem soon after warranty you should be good as that’s what happened to me. Not sure how long after warranty though before they won’t but I was roughly 2 months out of warranty.

How long do they take to heatup for you? seems mine and every tundra I've tried with the ON/OFF really suck to me.

Typically I start feeling heat within 1min and they seem to hit max heat around 3-4min. Compared to a lot of vehicles with 3 settings, I would say these warm to about level 1 or maybe 2. Plenty good for me as I usually turn it off in 5min or so.

Very interesting, I tried about 45 Gen 2.5 Tundras and they all were about the same, so its prob just me, I usually set my VW seats on level 5 then turn down to 4, and same in the BMW and Kias, max for a long time and only somtimes turning them down. I guess DIY additional heated seats it is for me.

Yeah probably the best route as the OEM warmers just don’t churn out insane heat.
