I would agree that the majority of us on here have a family (or are at least in a steady relationship with someone) and are mortgaging property along with dumping money into our 20+ year-old Toyotas

In all fairness, you are spending it on 20-year-old Toyotas

Only when you get to @empty_lord status can you call them Toyoti

I have both. I'm relatively successful. I'm not the only one on here.

I think the real trick to it is having kids with a partner, who treats you like a partner, carries as much weight as you (if not more sometimes) both at work and at home. Someone you can trust unconditionally and won't do the type of raw shit that destroys that trust. It can be someone totally neurotic* also, as long as your neuroses mesh well enough, and it's not the type of crazy that'll harm the kids.

I mean, the hard part is finding a partner like that. But when you do, you can pretty much accomplish anydamnthing. And there's someone out there for everyone like that, but you really gotta put yourself out to find it, and be patient. Like me. Waiting almost a year on the right 1GT.

I got extra lucky. I married "up", and for whatever reason, she puts up with my shit.

In some cases, there's two somebodies for one person. I like to call that "the jackpot".

Finally got the camera set up for a trial run. I'll move it to different spots later, but this should give yall an idea of the "clunk" I'm talking about.

Not trying to rub it in. Only dropping some wisdom nuggets. I had so many failed, fucked up relationships before I [begrudgingly] met my wife. And it took being with her for a solid 2-3 years before I realized, "Oh snap. This is actually pretty solid, we're dream team material right here". Not long after that reality, I proposed. Meh. The rest is history. The key to it all, I think, is mutual respect, which ultimately helped build up absolute trust, and that's the kinda soil you need to grow you a little love garden. Love can't legitimately exist without respect and trust.

Yep, that sounds strangely like mine. The wierd part is, there's almost like a double-echo on the back side of each clunk. "CLUNK (clonk clonk)"

I don't think it's the swaybar. While I could disco my links totally, I couldn't find a way to prevent the swaybar from swinging around and causing some damage, nothing to zip-tie it to, so I just removed the whole f'n thing. Still have it with them disco'd.

The one thing I'm most surprised by is how little travel I'm actually seeing in the coilover. Looks rigid as hell.

I'm curious @805Tundra do you have similar clunks to that with your DC on Toytec Aluma Boss 2.0s?

It's annoying enough, I've been considering moving to 5100s or 6112s. I'm sure the ride would be better. It's pretty f'n stiff on these Toytecs, I assume due to the 700lb springs, and I don't think it's really necessary with the absolute lack of weight I've got up front.

The double clunk is probably my tail gate lol. Need to replace the lower bushings/inserts.

Also, I'm only going 20mph and under in my neighborhood and there aren't too many dips, except when I hit the curb into my driveway at the end.

wow. That after-clunk holds clues. Not sure what they are but to me it sounds like something is being knocked out of place, then resettling back to it's home. On a hard hit, is that afterclunk more delayed? and is it only coming from the drivers side?
Oh you know what man..... it's probably those useless front axle shafts:rofl:.

Might be worth borrowing or getting some chassis ears you can attach mics to a couple places to isolate where the noise is coming from.

Did it make those noises before you installed the coilovers? What other front end work did you do at that time? I know you recently did work but I can't remember what.

The second clunk is my tail gate, gall! Lol. Thr main noise can be heard from the passenger side too, I'm going to try some place near the center to mount the camera. Get a better view of those stupid axles as a whole. Maybe the transfer case skid plate...

@FirstGenVol it's made this sound for quite some time, well before I started tearing into the front end. It was actually a big reason why I started rebuilding it.

@assassin10000 definitely. I'll do a few more runs and try to isolate.
