    Thanks

I would think Toyota keeps that in house with this new gen of frames they’re producing. More importantly, what’re you scheming up with this info?

Just thinking back to the rotting frame fiasco from the 1st gen models. Those were built for Toyota by a 3rd party who was later sued for the disaster. I wondered if it was now done in house or they found another supplier...

Yikes... I think that is the company that the previous bad frame supplier sold their business to... I am sure Toyota would not still use them if the issue was not corrected.

I think the main difference is that they are boxed now as opposed to C channel frames.

They were boxed in first gen tundras and Tacoma's. Then they went c channel aft of the engine in the tundra for the second gen 2007-2021. I am unfamiliar with the Tacoma frame but it too went C-channel in the 2005+ models. Both models experienced significant corrosion problems prior to the changeover that was blamed on incorrect and insufficient rustproofing.

the new Tacoma for 2024 rides on the 2022+ tundra platform so they share the fact that they are both boxed once more.

edit: apparently I was grossly incorrect and the 1st gen’s were only boxed in the front and went c channel cab back like the 2nd gen.

First gens are not fully boxed frames. C-channel cab back with some reinforcement overlaps.

I will go out on a limb....why does this matter to you? You know where Chevy/Dodge/Ford/Ferrari/McLaren etc etc get their frames built??

I stand corrected. All the ones I ever saw were mostly Swiss cheese anyway. Added an edit to my original post for correction.
