Is it unreasonable for me to be upset a dealer isn’t calling back?

    Got the notification for my second key. Called the dealer, got transferred to parts. They asked for my last 8 of my vin said they got it ordered. Then they asked me if I wanted to be transferred to service to setup a time to come in and get it programmed. I got the voicemail for service so I left a detailed message. That was last Tuesday. I never got a call back nor did I give the parts person any info other than my vin. I called service again today and got the voice mail again and left another message. It’s now been 5 hours since this message. Am I stuck with this dealer for my key even though they ordered it or am I able to call another? I feel like I’m putting a lot of effort getting this second key fob that should have come home with me the day I picked the truck up.

    Ummm, I'd call your sales rep and have them walk over and "complete" your sale for you.

    I’ll give them tomorrow and the weekend and come Monday if I don’t get a call back I’m calling again and if I get the voice mail again I’m calling my salesperson to have him do the leg work.

    That was part of my question. I believe they order it based on VIN. If this dealership ordered it already can another dealership order it?

    Yes they can. That dealer would just keep it in stock if someone doesn’t come pick it up

    The other Toyota dealership I would go to has sold parts from under me and kept making excuses with my Tacoma.

    I must have bad luck on getting call back when needed. I had trouble getting anyone to call me back to schedule a vasectomy a few months ago.

    I know my phone and number works. Sirius calls me daily.

    You can get your fob from any Toyota dealer.

    moving forward, and not just pertaining to dealerships……..

    a phone call never happened.
    Email is better
    A registered letter almost always gets a response (not pertainent to this issue)

    I always book service online. I get a confirmation email and then a follow up.

    my Toyota app told me my fob is “ready”. I booked an appointment with service. Confirmation email within seconds.

    the next day I received an email from service confirming my appointment, and that the fob would be ordered for my appointment.

    leaving a message doesn’t always work. Sometimes the message is written down on a paper. Something comes up, someone walks by, paper blows into garbage, etc.

    it’s interesting you said once you got the notification you booked the appointment. I called in to service and they transferred me to parts.

    I see now that they confirmed with you.

    also I left a message with their voicemail.

    Per my connected app Service Campaign message " Any authorized Toyota dealer will duplicate and provide the owner with one (1) additional Smart Key FREE OF CHARGE". I will never go back to my selling dealer for service. They are the ones who couldn't rotate my tires on my tacoma due to swelled up lug nuts and not being able to get them off but could replace them all for $350. Brought out a lug nut to show me the problem. Could come down to $275 when I said no. It really must work on enough people to try dumb sh$t like that.

    I dunno, maybe your,dealer is bad, and mine not so bad?

    most people are always on their phones, and thus always getting/checking emails. Or they’re on the computer at work. Email is essentially “in writing”. A phone call didn’t happen.

    I always book through service and let them interface with parts (I’m still waiting for a factory bed liner they were also able to confirm nothing until spring).

    I hate getting service at a dealership. My parents bought a used 2021 Highlander which came with 90 days of warranty. Within a few weeks they started to notice it was randomly taking longer to start. About eight or nine more cranks to start it. They brought it back in the dealership replace the batteries said it’s fixed. My parents took it home. Couple days later same issue. my parents took it back and they spent about a week and said they put new spark plugs in it. My parents took it back and a couple days later it started doing it again this time more often. The dealership said they threw in all new injectors, and it hasn’t done it since.

    I think it’s very interesting that they are just throwing parts at it.

    Getting fucked by dealership service departments is par-for-the-course. Once they have your money from the initial sale, they NEVER want to see you again. Yeah, get the salesman on the hook if you can though. Call him over and make him turn red, not that these people have any shame. Threaten bad reviews and basically do whatever you have to get satisfaction. Its unfortunate, but necessary.

    Laughing to myself seeing this thread. Dealer where I bought my truck is like 0-6 for calling me back. And imagine waiting on hold to speak to a manager. 10-15 minutes later and they come back with the manager i'snt available but will call you back in like 5 mins...lol

    Just trying to check on my rear window seal fix, they were supposed to order the part and I haven't heard anything in probably 6+ months.

    Trying to stick with them even though they are an hour + away from my house as I have a lifetime powertrain with them as long as I perform all required service as per the manual. Service doesn't have to be with them though!
