Hello I'm mitch 35, I live in Georgia.

I'm looking to get my first tundra, I've only ever owned fords and gmc. Reading about this truck is only pushed me further into switching brands.

The 2nd generation is what I want:
Maybe 2010-2015: not looking to spend over 15k$
    4x4
    Double cab or crew max?
    6ft or 8ft bed?

I'm going to do some off road with it and use it as my new work truck- I remodel homes and tow material.

Any advice is welcomed and I'm glad to make the switch

Howdy Mitch. 2014+ is what we used to call 3rd gen and now call 2.5 gen. There was a substantial makeover including a new fascia and bed sides and front fender. It also got an interior update. You should take a look at both and see what you like better.

the crew max only came with 5ft 7” (or thereabouts) bed. The older crew max has sliding forward and back rear seats with recline. The 2014+ did away with that but the back seats bottoms lift up like a Chevy for more load floor space. I used that to keep tools and paperwork out of the elements. The payload on the crew max is lower than the shorter cab models as the truck is heavier.

as for pricing, that’s all over the board these days but there’s definitely a Toyota tax as Toyota trucks have high resale due to their perceived longevity and durability.

    1) Awesome username Zapp.

    2) great answer very informative.

I'll definitely get the Double cab for a higher payload.

For seating I'm just excited to have back seats, I've only ever had single cab trucks so it'll be great to have the room!

Has anyone noticed a difference in the 6ft bed compared to the 8ft bed models?

I used to need an 8ft bed and would still enjoy the extra space, but would it hurt my off road capabilities because of the added weight? With today's accessibility, I get materials delivered a lot of time instead of shoving everything in my bed.
