    Iirc:

    2 π r = C

    32" tire /2 = 16 for r.
    2 x 3.14 x 16" = 100.48" for C
    100.48" / 360° = .279" per 1°

    .279" x .0625" (1/16) = approx 22.4% of 1 degree.
    Or 1/16" = 0.224 degrees.

If tape measure 1/32 - 1/16" total toe is what I'd run. 1/8" is acceptable as some vehicles are spec'd at .40-.50 front toe in.

This is a much bigger deal to me vs banging metal. When i take my truck up to the N Ga property I just leave the cruise off. With cruise on, any grade drops gears and as my truck screams at me - RPM's way up. My wife would look at me every time like something was wrong...

My truck had 275/70 17's on it when I bought it way back when; I thought it was normal until I rode up with a friend of mine in his '06 4wd Tundra. Smooth sailing in his truck...

Each to their own but be forewarned if this matters to any of you.

I’m going to cram something in there today, maybe I have some fibreglass insulation around. I’ll have to order a seal, but I want to stop them today.

We take them far away in the woods, much farther than I’m sure they travel so I’m not worried about them coming back, and my kid likes to let them go and watch them run off. Around here bids of prey probably get a good few.

Yup, I can confirm: The clunking coming from my front driver's side is likely not the balljoint. The only other things I can point a finger at now are the steering rack or the coilovers. I suspect it's the f'n coilovers, but I can't for the life of me figure out what/how they could be making all this damn racket. I checked everything on them, it's all tight, there is a little (normal-seeming) movement at the lower bushing, I just don't see anything out of the ordinary.

At least I know I have two very good OEM spare LBJs now, and the peace of mind I won't need to do this again.

I also went to deal with my brake-squealing-when-cold issue, only to find there are no shims on my front pads on either side, so no need to re-glue. Fuck. Pads look like they were installed probably months before I got the truck so I'm not hip to just swap them but the squeal has gotten gradually worse over time.

Been doing research most of the day, regarding re-gearing and gaining back some mpgs.

Did the math, thanks @bmf4069 for this thread https://www.tundras.com/threads/re-gear.115068/
and it looks like 4.10 is where I'm heading (was between 4.15 and 4.20, depending on if I rounded the tire size or not, but that's uncommon).

Seems like a lot of late 90's Tacomas had 4.10's and should match up with my year, since it doesn't have the bigger flange like the later years. Am I on the right track?

There is a reason Toytech gets really mixed reviews... Hopefully it's something else but even if they are making noise I doubt it's anything other than annoying.

I think I've been chasing the same clunk for a long time. Even before the toytec and ome setups. Thought it could steering rack, was leaking anyway so I replaced it. Nope. Thought it was the old ass, worn out, struts. Nope. Changed lbjs. Nope. Changed outer tie rods. Nope. Aftermarket uca. Nope.

It's all seemed to get "better" for a minute, but comes back. The only I have yet to change are the lcas and cam bolts. I really think it lies in the lcas. Bushing, specifically.

    Nope, factory/OEM original.

My LCA bushings look great. I have my replacement leaf for the rear driver leaf that is definitely causing a clunk. I just need to install the f'n thing. Maybe next weekend. Then see if that solves some or all of it.

There is, just like Icon. But I mean ... They're Elka. I rarely hear bad reviews about Elka products.

    Yikes.

Get front and rear diffs from a sequoia. They're 4.10's.

Close to that sound. Definitely not the side to side motion. Just more like two pcs of metal bolted together, with no cushion in between them. Maybe I should just invest in a go pro or 2 and strap near where I think the noises are coming from.

@shifty` my bushings look to pass the eye test, but I've replaced almost everything else in that area.

Damn! I'm thinking all these off-brand "oem" parts are just garbage these days. I've heard mixed reviews about moog LBJ's. Some people rave about them, but your picture says it all.

I bought some NAPA CV shafts about 4 years ago. Same issue, the boots disintegrated and now I have to tear my truck apart to replace them. In fact, I am done with off-brand parts.

I'd probably/definitely be making some calls to moog over that. Especially if you have a stock setup.

I'm still suspicious of my Toytec Aluma 2.0s. If it was my LCAs, I would've expect to have heard some level of racket before lifting. It was quiet as a mouse prior to lift. I can clearly see the rack bushings are a bit rough, and there's play in the rack. I'm not lookinf forward to replacing the rack bushings (I'll do it, I don't mind, but without having a lift on-hand, I'm simply not looking forward to the neck strain), but I still am not convinced that's it.

I'm going to replace the rear driver leaf, since I know it's clunky. Maybe I'm just mis-hearing the sound and it's actually coming from the rear. If I stand on the side step and bounce, I definitely hear clunking coming from out back. I sadly don't have a GoPro to slap in the wheel well and video articulation to see if it would reveal when the clunk is happening.

That's right, I forget that you weren't hearing the noise until after you installed the coilovers.

Just bought this. Im a pro at spending money now lol. We'll figure this out!

I guess I may do the same. Just need a strong magnetic mount for it.

My clunks tend to be more audible when I'm starting my journey. It's almost like they go away after a while? Which again, makes no sense, unless it IS the coilover, and once it warms up after travel, the clunking goes away. I've noticed the clunking has gotten louder lately, which is why I was assuming maybe the suspension upgrades were potentially early-fatiguing the LBJ. But maybe it's gotten louder because it's colder out? Huh.

Nope, checked for that today. Checked for clearances with tire on and fully jacked, full droop and wheel up deep into the well. Weird part is, I notice it more on smaller bumps, like dropping off the 3/4" ledge at the edge of my garage while backing out. Then when I drop off the 5/8" ledge where the driveway meets the road. Doesn't matter if in FWD or reverse. I notice it more at slow speeds.
