What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

It would be really nice if they made a 275/75 or even a 265/85 tire. But that's like trying to find a pair of 33-33 jeans...

I think there is more to getting the wheel "right" than the tire, when it comes to the fitment. Obviously every experience and truck aren't the same as the next guy, but a lot of my research led me to stick with a 16x8 wheel at 0 offset. I was dead set on 17's initially, but ultimately felt that could get more tire and still have a better chance at minimal rubbing with 16's.

But, the variable that bites most of us is matching a wheel size + a design we like. Seemed like a huge portion of the kick-ass-looking wheel market is, at minimum, 17x9 -12 offset. That can put the buyer at a disadvantage for fitment, right away.

The swing in offsets per mfg can be drastic, too. One wheel you like could be -25, then the next option is +25, with 0 being the in-between. It's frickin madness. If I could have my pick, I would have chosen my same wheel as a 16x7/0 or even 16x8/-5. But, you know, 33-33 jeans lol.

Again, no alignment yet and I've yet to off-road her (just done a few deep, speed dips, with wheels turned, at different speeds), so I'm sure some gremlins will turn up.

Now, time to go change the oil. Do you guys know which oil is best for our trucks? LOL JK! Don't answer that.

The very beginning of the run, the road was super dusty and couldn’t see anything, im sure our convoy was quite the scene blasting down the road lumens up! Later in the trail it got more moist so it wasn’t as dusty, but all the lighting was nice to see all the terrain better

One route I was thinking about was getting 17x9 / 0offset and a .25” spacer. I’ve seen some run 285/70r17 and it seems -6mm offset is a good starting place. IMO it’s easier to add the proper spacer than find the perfect wheel offset. But stick out is pretty cool so………maybe I’ll still go -12mm and cut and smash


also just did the TPMS ground today. Found it was easier to pop out the radio and the glove box. Used a sketchy splitter, piece of speaker wire and viola.

Hey, real quick, what kinda toe am i looking for? And does anyone know how many degrees 1/16" is?

 

.0625x360 = 22.5 degrees? I'm no mathematician, so that could be wrong.

I'd have to find an older alignment sheet to see the toe, no idea there.

According to the how big is yours i got about 2" of lift with the springs on the lowest setting. Sitting pretty level @ 22" (+- 1/4") on all 4 corners. I'll find a more level spot in the driveway after a little test run and get a better measurement.

It's great preemptive maintenance, anyway. Maybe the clunking is actually the lca bushings?

Well shit. I know the steering shaft seal has been addressed before, but can I just shove steel wool around it as a quick fix?

 

Sure, why not? It's amazing how well that stuff works as a deterrent.

 

Steel wool is not what I'd pick. One member that was too lazy to replace the seal used fiberglass insulation.

We always take squirrels to a park a few miles away. The boys love watching it run away, little do they know he will probably die anyways due to no shelter, predators, lack of resources and being dehydrated in the first place from the trap……..

 

If you saw how bad my intermediate shaft coupler was rusted to the bolts holding it together, you’d do the same.
