I just dragged the boat to go fish and back today. Overall, it was a great improvement with the Tundra (2024 Limited TRD). But, the crazy nagging when I'm backing to hook up the trailer or when in reverse and driving me nuts.

I did pull some great tips already from this forum and got some guidance from the manual, but I want to know if I can turn off the digital wife.

Problem 1 - backing up to the trailer. Using a tip from the forum, the backup camera zoom is super nice (turn off the satellite and you can zoom)... until the brakes slam on. Why can't I back up to my trailer without the brakes nearly killing me? I thought I turned that button off... but I really don't want to change my shorts when just backing up to the trailer.

Problem 2 - Yes, I know I'm backing up and am using the mirrors... Can I turn off the digital nagging to "look around" when in reverse? I know I can "temporarily" mute, it is too temporay. So, I need to stop and look for the right button on the wheel to shut it up. Then... maybe I need to correct with a change from R -> D -> R. It starts over. Can this digital reverse nagging be turned off?

A distant third is when I go to take the straps off the boat. I'm not stopping the engine for that, and wow, the truck goes nuts when I walk back to take the straps off and get back in to back into the water. Yes, I know I'm not in the truck and am only 20' away. The app really likes the hit that home, but I can block those notifications in my phone settings. I don't trust the tweakers around the public ramp, so the keys are staying in my pocket.

Distant 4th, When backing, I still need to hop in and out a few times when hooking up the trailer alone. So I'm not closing the driver door when moving the truck less than an inch. It doesn't like that at all.

Yup, gripes. Love so much about this truck, but I would love to turn off the ding nags.

The problem that Toyota Engineers have done is build this truck with nannies for users / owner of an IQ of 80. I have no problem with that if they gave us an option to opt out of these stupid nannies.

Turn the Parking Support Braking off, and your truck won't slam on the brakes when you back a trailer up.

I read that, but my slam on the breaks was before getting hooked up. Using that info I am able to back with the trailer there. Maybe I'll get used to it.

As far as the open door scenario, you just need to shift it twice. Basically with door open, shift to reverse, then park to reverse real quick again. That disables the slamming brake with door open.

All this tech sucks until you read the OM and understand why it's there. My line of work I get paid very well to read for others.
I embrace it and the only inconvenience is when this old guy forgets how to change settings or turn of things Lol.

"Read" and "remember what I read" is a personal challenge for me. I do try... but when actually trying to do things I vaguely remember that I read it somewhere, but there is no way I'm going back to the manual at that point. It is like reading the directions on something you need to assemble.

I'm sure there are a lot of good reasons and many legal CYAs for these things. I just wish there was a checkbox to "Accept the risk" to deactivate some of them.
