My 14 Tundra that I bought new 12/2013 just hit 70k last month. The wife's 2013 Venza we bought used in 2015 with 23k on it has about 48k on it now.

Yeah, I wouldn't venture outside much if I still lived in that hellscape either. Too bloody hot.

Seriously, though, you're truck's gotta have some solid value retention. First: it's a Tundra. Second: we know you take good care of it and it looks good. It's 10 years old and looks better than lots that are half that age. Third: that's some really low mileage per year. Tons of life left.

I hear that! I think the same about my truck, but I'm still a lazy POS about it. If I were to have some jackwad t-bone it and total it, my replacement options are pretty limited since I have awful luck buying used. I just pray some idiot doesn't total it out.

When I sold my tundra in 2019, it had about 38k on it, I think. I had gotten it new in 2014

My Tesla (purchased new in summer of 2022) has 7,350 miles on it currently

You ever take the wife or kids to the drag strip and do a run with them in it? See if you can get them on board too? Could be a fun family thing.

You can’t. No passengers are allowed per their regulations.
Our track just closed down- last time I went there I only got two runs in due to the line, and weather shutting it down.

Check the build link in my signature.
Everything from the 99 Protege and forward we bought new, except the 08 Forester was at about 160k on the clock when we bought it.

I drive 25-30k/year myself. My older daughter isn’t far off of that with her traveling “bug”. My wife is closer to 15-20k and the younger daughter more like 10k

Damn, you guys are all high mileage runners!:eek2:

I used to be 10K a year, but then everybody I knew moved away for bigger and better things. Since I'm the single guy, it's on me to travel for the visits, so I'm up about 12-13K a year now.

Brought my truck home August 2022. Just turned over 13,000 miles.

My 2013 Corolla has around 63,000 miles on it.

We don't rack up the miles like alot of people. My car gets driven 200km sits for 2 weeks at a time when I'm at work, then 200km home and then sits for most of my week off. The truck is basically used in town unless we're fishing or camping but most of those trips are under 500km from home.

It helps that our city is small. 15 minutes from north end to south, 10 minutes east to west assuming minimal red lights and normal traffic.

The Pilot is our running around town car now and we've put 4000 km (less than 3000 miles) on it in the year we've owned it.

How long a trip do you guys take at any give stretch? Any kind of road trips? If it's all sub 100 miles for the most part, you might be ideal candidates for an EV. They are perfect for that stuff, especially if you tend to keep vehicles for a long time.

I don't think EV is worth the expense at this point. Not at their selling prices, our electricity rates or winter temperatures imho. I thought about the plug in hybrid RAV4 for the woman but the price and availability were turn offs. The Tundra was actually cheaper to buy.

In my case, our Corolla is paid off, cost $30 - $40 to fill up and gets 450+ kms to a tank. Hard to beat the economics of that.

Oh, it wouldn't be economics. Just if you wanted to upgrade or something. The lack of oil changes and such has an appeal, at least to me. For low mileage trips a Model 3 isn't horrendously priced, especially if you guys get tax credits (no clue if you do or not).

I'm pretty well with you on the price though. $40-45K USD for a Tesla just doesn't make sense right now.
